Afura you're probably right in saying that "We get the point" with these pictures. I personally feel 50/50 about them myself. Why? Because I don't need pictures to justify my feelings of outrage, it's in my demeanour and that will never change. When I see these pictures I feel incredibly sad man, like really really down and even angry.
Still, there are many people who get so caught up in these news articles, opinions, and try teeter-totter at which side is right - To such an extent that they completely miss the point... People are dying while the involved leaders and on lookers are doing nothing to stop this.
Some people even argue without even seeing what is happening. Look at these pictures and please continue your civil conversations about "What ifs". It's really easy to say "YEAH EVERYONE KNOWS PEOPLE ARE DYING" but that's not true. Because if they DID, there would be more lenience to the victims FIRST and foremost. I also really hate when people say "It's war and people will die".
The fact that we accept this means we have lost the very thing that makes us human which is to empathize, sympathize, and at least have desire to make a change. These images are a double edge sword, it makes the surreal events come closer to home. At the same time it completely desensitizes us. It's really funny how we look at 30 deaths in Iraq as light news and the shooting such as the one that occured in subway of Bay as really bad. We have to treat them equally, one death is one death to many. Of course death is inevitable. But, if we can prevent them then we should! I never said I never felt bad for the Israeli citizens who were injured or killed but I don't even have time to mourn for them as there are so many more people dying in Gaza.
It's really funny how people are so up in arms for Gay marriage saying that we should legalize it. The reason why people are so compelled to fight for their cause is because that issue is much closer to home. A friend, family member, or someone you know maybe/was effected by this and thus we are compelled to voice our thoughts. A lot of people had their chance with that whole proposition 8 ruling and it must have been nice to fight for something you believe in. This situation in Gaza may feel far, may feel insignificant and surreal, but we NEED to voice our thoughts because if we don't then there is no authority or pressure to stop these events at all. Just imagine if these events were happening to you. Oh wait, that can never be so I don't care.
So, if you can't do something physically, can't use the system to work for you, then at least acknowledge and voice your opinion with your tongue. The fact that some people can't even do this baffles me.
