so I read this quote from Peter Moore, head of the XBox division, when the PS3 was announced. he said he thought it would be a failure because most people would buy a wii and a 360, and not a ps3. so its been a bit of time since then, lets have an impromptu poll. basically:

number of people you KNOW have a wii and a 360:
number of people you KNOW have just a ps3:

obviously when I say just and limit it to two I'm not including a DS blah blah, but between the three. if you have all three you don't count and neither does anyone you know who has all three.

I know no one who has a PS3 anymore. however, I know for sure my friend jon has a 360 and a wii. I think my friend Cameron has the same (I know he has the 360 but I'm iffy on the Wii). let's see if Moore is right!

i know like a couple people with PS3s but they all have it for blu ray which is why i'm considering getting one eventually anyhow.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

Well I don't think I know anyone who owns both an XBox 360 and a Wii, but I know a lot of people who have either one of them and only one who has a PS3.

In either case the PS3 seems like a pretty bad pick.

I have a friend on GamingW who owns a Wii and a 360 while the rest either own a Wii or a 360. As for me I don't count in because I own all three.

i know a few people with PS3s and a couple with 360s and Wiis, but most just have a 360 or a Wii.

360 and Wii here. I was given the Wii as a gift though and I only found two games to be playable (out of 20 that where also given to me) so I only really play the 360.

The only reason I am even keeping the Wii around is for downloads like Ecco the Dolphin 2 and Cave Story and that is it.

i have a wii and my mom has a 360 i guess that's close enough but it was closer when i still lived there. my 10 year old stepbrother has a ps3 (he's the kinda nerd who still pisses his pants at night, and instead of buying a whole bunch of neat stuff with birthday/christmas moneys he saved up years' worth and bought a ps3 and a small hd-tv).

i have a friend who has all three but i'm not sure if he uses the ps3 anmore.

the assistant manager at work has a 360 and a ps3 i don't think she has a wii. her and her husband use them mostly to watch hddvd and blueray movies from what i gather.

i think everyone else i know either has a wii, a 360 or nothing.

I own a Wii and a 360, most people I know have either one or the other. Let me think real quick:

XBOX360s Owned (by friends): 6
Wiis owned (by friends): 4
Ps3s owned (by friends): 1

Me? Well I have a Playstation 3. I love it because it never asks me for money for online services.
Other than that, it was probably a better idea to get a 360. But I fucking hate fees. Hate.(with a passion)
Also there was MGS4. That was a pretty good reason. Not that I make any sense though.
But:
0 friends with a wii/360 combo
1 friend with a PS3/360(I-I really don't know on this one. I tried to logic him but it didn't work)
2 friends with a PS3
5 friends with a 360

4 friends with a Wii

hmm... would i rather pay fifty dollars a year for xbox live or pay ten dollars more per game on the ps3 and 200 dollars more for the system itself?

EDIT: and also have a better chance of having nobody to play with.

ok i'd just like to point out that standing in a radio shack or whatever and watching those demo shows they have where they compare it side by side i honestly can't tell the difference between blueray and dvd. except maybe blueray looks shinier.

maybe i just don't have the eyes for it or anything but i imagine neither does the average consumer and it's only better because they're told it's better.

this is different than hidef games and tv those are actually pretty big differences.

From a personal experience, I've only noticed a big difference in PIXAR movies and movies that have come out after blu-ray came out. Maybe because they take their time mastering everything and what have you. Not that it's really all that important, but I'm a bastard with expensive tastes. Not that I'm saying that the PS3 IS WAY MOAR BETTER THAN THE 360 or that I don't sometimes regret swallowing my pride and dealing with the 360's fees, but I haven't sold my PS3 and traded it in for a 360 for a reason. Plus I've already bought WAY MORE games than the console is worth. Around 2,000$ In retrospect, if I had ended up buying a 360 I'd end up spending just as much.(Minus 200.[and ][/and])
For GOW and the other 360 exclusives, I have my computer which I do most of my video game playing on anyways. The PS3, at this point, is more like an entertaining toy.

Free?

That's the reason why PS3 costs so much. More like $400 hd player.

I don't have any current gen consoles, sadly.

BUT:

3 friends with a 360
2 with a PS3
1 with a PS3 and a Wii

and my girlfriend owns a Wii.

But that's about it.
