just dont kill anyone jesus if you have to debate about crimes for LIFE IN PRISON what makes you think the system will EVER be good enough to determine death penalties? people get accused of heinous shit all the time. remember that guy who was accused of killing a material witness, DEATH PENALTY, but luckily an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm caught him in the background? that guy was gonna fry for something he didn't do. there are thousands of cases like this. most death penalty cases are pretty unfair actually.

Now I believe that in some cases solitary confinement (in the sense of leaving a criminal who can't operate around others without getting violent, in a reinforced cell all by his lonesome until he can learn to stop being a fucking moron) is necessary for the protection of other criminals and prison staff but thats about as far as it goes.

I think having them work and get an education while their in the prison environment could really help shit out but no - LET THEM DO THE DANGEROUS SHIT AND HARD LABOR BECAUSE THEY AREN'T PEOPLE ANYMORE- that is stupid as hell.

Also having suffered a little mental anguish from being far away from home and far from anyone (that didn't make my life a living hell) for long periods of time (even though it wasn't nearly on the level of LOCKED IN A CELL BY MYSELF FOR DAYS).

I think can say that yeah, it can eat away at you but that doesn't rely solely on being alone and away from home. it depends on who you are and your mental state in the first place, which is what prison psychiatrists or doctors or whatever would have to pay attention to when doing that, because I believe if your mental state is already chaotic and unstable that doesn't mean that shit can't still get alot worse because of these things being tacked on too.

They're killing the guy that made the melamine too, he's getting killed solely for producing it and selling it to the people that mixed it in milk. 1. Prison is a rehabilitation system in the united states of America. It was designed to rehabilitate. Did you just say that prison's sole purpose is to contain criminals...for periods of time and let them loose again? You yourself just said it was not meant to punish or rehabilitate...does that even make sense? It doesn't make sense at all...on any level of thought. really I'm trying understand what you said but I can't.  let me high light the contradiction in your own post.

Let me go through it again. Prison is ONLY meant to contain criminals deemed dangerous that is ALL, not to reintroduce them into society, punish, teach, NOTHING ELSE...and after that set period of time we established for that certain person (most people who go to prison...get out.) we willingly release people we did not rehabilitate or had the goal to rehabilitate back into society...?

Lets not even get into the fact that forcing someone to go somewhere they  don't want to go is punishment within itself...and bring up the "what right to we have to do it" argument that you are using.



2. Animals...when do animals make eachother instill justice or "punishment" upon eachother? o.0 Making someone work hard labor to pay for a crime...is animistic? separating someone from society who has no Chance of ever being reintroduced into society is animistic...sorry these are far to complicated concepts to be labled animalstic, stick with cruel.

I agree with you...for people who commit lesser crimes like steal and shit we should actually rehabilitate them, but you contradict yourself..you said prison should ONLY(you even stressed this) for containing prisoners now you say we should educate them? I'm all for it but you are contradicting first sentence. People who murder for their own goals should be punished with the methods I listed before in my opinion.... I'm not talking about people with a mental illness I'm about about oh..people who kill for money for example  ​

When I think of prison, I think of people who have done some fucked up shit and are gonna be there awhile. So yeah, some might get REHABILITATED and some might not.
 
Most light offenders go to a JAIL, but PRISONERS are going away for a few years at the least. So when I say CONTAIN, thats exactly what I mean. They are CONTAINED in the prison until a later date or until they die, if its necessary. Contain can mean to keep for an excessive amount of time or for-fucking-forever, thats why I used the word.

And yes, I think we should give them an education if they show the will for it. Educated people are more likely to repent then a fucking idiot that is too dumb to fully realize the recourse of his/her actions.

A good bit of the friends and family I've got, have/will/are spending time in prison.  And I'm not talking about a month or two I'm talking about a few years for a few of them some for stupid shit and some not so much.

The only person out of them I know that is in prison right now is going to be there for a long fucking time and I don't know if he's even going to get out and he's a family member I only knew as a teenager and wasn't very close to and from what I understand he got really into the drug ring deal and REALLY into it (not just weed) plus a bunch of other shit none of it anything like murder or assault though I'm pretty sure.

Edit: I know that doesn't sound good but its got nothing to do with my immediate family or me, even though I got a couple people in my family who've been there the one I associate with isn't doing that shit anymore and has gotten alot better since the last time he got out.
