but it wasn't just a moment of anger. It went on for long enough that he just wanted to try and make a fool out the dp but ended up making a fool out of himself and I think it's kinda funny that this leaked out

Wow, people are reacting this strongly to this? Dudes, Christian Bale freaked on someone for not doing their job right while he was probably in the heat of an intense acting scene... This is NOTHING compared to when Kraimer started barfing the N-bomb at that comedy club months back.

man, at some point the DP really just needed to shut up and stop making excuses because that is what made Bale really fly off the hook. bale was done yelling and wanted to get back to filming the scene, and the guy just aggravated him again and again by not SHUTTING UP when it was obviously time for him to BE QUIET and DO WHAT BALE SAID.

you gotta realize this guy probably burnt several thousand dollars if not tens of thousands in production time if he'd screwed up several takes. bale was pretty angry but like roman said the only time i thought he was EXTREMELY OUT OF LINE was when it sounded like there was a scuffle, but that was probably just him kicking a bucket or some shit. they are under huge amounts of pressure and when someone is doing something that is completely unprofessional constantly despite asking them not to do it (in a RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRESSURE INDUSTRY) i think they really DO need to be yelled at! bale acted pretty horribly though the first maybe THIRTY SECONDS of that clip were justified then he just took it too far.

the worst part of this actually is now this DP is never gonna find hollywood-level work again because no one wants to work with the DP who made bale fly off the hook and cause a big PR fuckup

i don't understand how this proves bale's a huge jackass. i mean yeah he was pretty mean but the audio seems to be taken out of context. i don't know much about filming but in high-stress situations i feel like many people are prone to getting super pissed and worked up and would start yelling.

idk i think i'd be pretty pissed if i was bale.

man the thing is that idk how any person could explain this as rational. it went on for like two minutes. he ATTEMPTED TO PHYSICALLY INJURE HIM by the sounds of it. he's crazy! actually i don't know if he's crazy, but this was in no way proportionate. this wasn't WELP YA BOSS YELLED AT YA WHO CARES. he went batshit, man. absolutely batshit. and it lasted a while. this is in no way normal or acceptable, regardless of what the guy did. you guys are saying that with some measure of ACCEPTANCE involved because "heh....happens all the time on sets" but this isn't actually a justification and if you saw this happening in front of you in public, you would be like "holy shit this guy is insane".

idk whats the backstory though? people are saying he warned the guy multiple times and he did it anyway, and that he ruined multiple scenes. i dunno what the deal is with that. maybe he did and that would make him an idiot or at least deserving of some type of reprimand but this was on a whole other level so i would say regardless this was a disproportionate response. i don't think it means anything about bale, necessarily. people flip out. i mean, i don't flip out like this and if i saw someone who did, i would legitimately wonder if they had some anger issues, but him losing his temper at some dude fucking up (multiple times?) on the job doesnt mean he's an asshole all the time or anything.

I am, but like I said I've dealt with motherfuckers like this MY ENTIRE LIFE and I hate them more than anything. They are whats wrong with the world, they blow shit out of proportion and just make everyone around them fucking miserable. True maybe what the dp did was unprofessional but can you say Christian Bale was professional with his response? This sort of verbal harassment wouldn’t be tolerable by anyone's own boss.

I think its sad he can get away with things like this just because he’s the actor, without any consequences he’s just going to continue treating others like this, like some sort of high school bully, people have no choice but to tolerate it and cant say anything... its shameful.

To be fair in this instance, he didn't hit his mom or sister just yelled at them a lot. He got arrested for verbal assault and then the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence (he probably did freak out though).

I don't know about this one. I would like to think that he was just super stressed and this pushed him over his limit, however, knowing his past anger issues I think the dude just needs some therapy or something. That much rage can't be good for anyones health.
