I'm looking for music in the languages above or similar languages, preferably with a prominent female singer. Flowing, chanting style of singing. Bollywood singers do it all the time, but there are about forty million Bollywood films and soundtracks so I don't even know where to begin there.

Something like this?

Shlomit Levi, doing some Yemenite chanting for Orphaned Land

Mmm, so you want artists with that particular musical "arabic-sounding"-style as well or just
singers that sing in those languages? Dunno much about those, but this (Laleh) babe sings
in persian (I think it's persian >_>) in a few of her songs.

Haven't heard her first album, but it's suposed to have more persian than her other albums.

I'd also recommend Powerslave with Maiden, but they have a male singer so meh :P

edit
Also I may be way off here, but how about this?

edit2 (lol sorry)
Above was wrong "band" I had in mind I think. Just youtube "Taraf De Haidouks". Dunno if they have any singers though.

That's not exactly what I'm looking for but it is awesome.

I guess just any sort of flowing chanting style like that, yeah. A lot of Bollywood songs seem to do it, but I have no idea where to even begin on that front. I'd look for more Shlomit Levi but this is all I can find.

Edit: Sorry I am terrible at describing music.

I dont actually have that much music in arabic, hebrew or hindi.

I would imagine of the three I have the most in arabic because of some folk music stuff and nusrat singing abunch of arabic poetry sometimes (I have 3 gigs of nusrat on my computer). but yeah I'm not much into hebrew language music and the only hindi shit that I like is like "dam maro dam (hare krishna hare dam)" type psychedelic/fusion shit so yeah

now if you were looking for north african, turkish, kurdish, iranian or turkic music I have untold amounts of that and I can point you in directions of things I dont myself have but I know where to find

also look at my avatar. stare at the face and let your eyes go unfocused

You might like Idan Raichel... at least this song anyway (it's much better than most of his other songs)
