This is a new game on psp from the creators of Disgaea. Nippon Ichi have now given prinnies from Disgaea, their own game to star in. The game is a change from role-playing to platformer. In this game you get 1,000 lives to try and complete it, but you can't gain any lives and must complete the whole game before your lives run out. I bought this game yesterday and it is probably the only game I've played that has really pissed me off so much, to the point where I was about to chuck my psp on the floor. I wasted about 40 lives just trying to pass through an annoying gap in one of the levels. The game is titled Prinny:CIRBTH and is on psp.

Anyway, heres a screenshots of the game.

Has anyone beaten this game?

I started playing it yesterday and got to level 5 and yeah its one really hard game.
I checked gamefaqs and it said it was the most challenging (or one of the most im not sure  :hmm:) sidescroller ever released.

this is the best thing NIS has put out in 5 years and it's causing a MASSIVE ripple in their fanbase as pretty much everyone who loves their generic strat games hates it.

it's basically a parody of capcom's ghost n goblins and all of those "hardcore" super hard pixel dodging platformers.  i love how they just give you 1000 lives to beat it knowing that you're probably going to lose all of them over the course of the game.  oh yeah

if you hated capcom's old DIE IN ONE HIT CAN'T CONTROL MOVEMENT MID-JUMP platformers then yeah you'll hate this to no end but i looooooved ultimate ghosts n goblins and this gave me my masochistic platformer fix.

That's an odd coincidence, I was watching a playthrough of the game on youtube wondering "what did people see in this?"

it came out in 1983 when the height of "interactive virtual entertainment" was limited to moving a green dot across a screen

Storyline: Etna is in charge of your flock, and when she finds that her dessert has been stolen from right under her nose, it's up to you and 999 of your closest friends to obtain the ingredients for the Ultra Dessert.

If anyone plays this for the storyline then they have got serious problems.

Sounds like this is the game for me. It'd probably be the first NI game I've ever played too.

Yeah, this game will totally fuck you up in the patience department. I keep trying to rush in beating the bosses, but my impatience gets the best of me.

But some of the areas in the game are a bit nerve wracking, but I think the game is pretty fun none-the-less. I'm a fan of NIS works. (Though my opinion on em' changed a bit after the Ar Tonelico II incident(s).)

But this game is pretty fun if you have the patience, and just as one person said earlier, you WILL eventually lose all those Prinnies you've been friends with for so long by the end of the game, I'm down to 800 and I have like 7 hours left to get the ingredients to make the Sea of Gehenna Pudding to please Etna or else I'm screwed.

I heard you can fight Etna but I'm certainly not looking forward to losing 200+ Prinnies by fighting her. >_>;;;;

The 3DO version of Brain Dead 13 was the most frustrating, because no one told me that it was bugged to where you couldn't get past a part within the first 5 minutes of the game so I thought I was just doing it wrong and kept on doing it over and over again.  Basically the dude would run in the same direction no matter what button you hit.

I have Dragon's Lair for the 3DO too and I have never gotten past the first screen, part of me wonders if it was a bugged version too or if it just isn't a fast enough response and I should be hitting it way earlier.

But anyway, I'm glad NIS is trying something different--i.e., not making Disgaea again.  I never got the point of GRIND TILL LEVEL 99999 FOR NO REASON.  I probably wouldn't get this if I had a PSP though just out of bitterness of Rhapsody DS being a fucking BROKEN game (that would lock up in a place so you couldn't get past that part of the game, fail to save, and it was missing content they promised).  But, if NIS tries new things, even under the guise of Disgaea, until they finally start branching out to new franchises, there may be hope for them yet.

I watched a few clips of Prinny and it looks really easy, so does it have some sorta limited movement/controls, or why would you put this up there with any GnG game?

I guess the one-hit kill mode is pretty unforgiving but still, you pretty much wipe the floor with the enemies if any of the gameplay clips are truthful.

I don't know because almost everyone that bought it right away was so pissed off about the missing promised content, on top of the bugs, that they didn't want new copies.  I don't know of anyone that was happy with Rhapsody DS.

it plays exactly like GnG meaning one-hit DEATH, you can't control your jumps (unless you double jump), there's a timer, and the platform elements get really tough.

I think I'd rather move a green dot across a screen than play Dragon's Lair.

i agree with you.  i bought the blu-ray editions because i'm a fan of bluth's work and the series (including space ace and thayer's quest) work much better as a continuous movie than a game BUT if i grew up in the 70s where the only game available was electric football i'd probably piss my pants seeing a cartoon i could control.

dragon's lair is one of the highest grossing arcade games for a reason.
