I'm constantly surprised at people's lent stories about how it was so hard for them to give up CAKE or shit for 40 days. Fuck, I'm very addicted to caffeine, but if I straight up gave up soda, I'd be really sick for a few days and then probably be just fine. In Iceland I drank mostly water and milk, and I had to take Excedrin to keep from getting hardcore sick (soda wasn't very easy to come by where we were, there was a single store quite a walk away), but after the first three or so days I didn't need it as much (tbh I should have used that to quit but I'm dumb) A lot of the things people give up aren't even things that would have anything like this much of an effect on them, it's just something that they SORTA LIKE and quit having for 40 days. And you know what? If I did do that and was sick and everything, then that's my fuckin' fault for drinking so much mountain dew in the first place. I'm not going to whine the whole 40 days about how hard it is, because I did it to myself, and yet I've had tons of friends who do this exact thing with the dumbest things. If you can't give up chocolate for 40 days, you should probably rethink some things.
