i dont give a shit about the excommunication itself either. it's the fact that the church feels the need to TAKE SWIFT ACTION against parents wanting to save their sexually abused child's life. i know this isn't the first instance, but JESUS a 9 year old raped by her stepfather. it just blows my mind that humans could possibly fabricate a reason in their head to say NOPE MAKE HER SUFFER

Now, I don't believe in abortion. But it cases like this, I unfortunately do. I have a strong respect for women who get raped, pregnant, and keep the child. As that is how I came into the world. I think the church is highly wrong, because the bible even says that no matter what you have done in your life, God loves you. The church is more than wrong, and the Arcbishop or whatever isn't as in tune with God, or doing his work, as he thinks he is. I may not go to church, and when I do, got to a baptist church, but the word of God is the word of God. The catholic church, at times, will misinterperet (I know it's misspelled) what the bible says, and I have been to masses where they actually change what the passage means to suit the catholic faith!

Bottome line this is bull shit, and the docters were helping to keep the girl alive!

This reminds me of honor killings in Africa and the Middle East.

Had a friend in high school who was abused by a Baptist preacher when she was a kid and got her family kicked out of the church for accusing him.  I find it sorta morbidly amusing how religious organizations are so apt to practice exclusion when faced with some sort of individual adversity.  It's basically like saying HEY GTFO YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO BE STUPID WITH US.

Brazil is a heavily catholic country, to be barred from the jesus fanclub is to be totally isolated from your community and friends. Your best buds will turn on you and shit, you'll be treated like crap and abused. Even though you're totally in the right, once some angry minister declares you unworthy of jesus your game's up.
It's not a joke it's serious and really grotesque.

You've never heard of excommunication before?  There are a lot of religious sects that do this (for some reason all I'm thinking right now is PLYMOUTH BRETHREN which isn't the best example but yeah there are quite a few), and in a heavily religious community (or if for you the church group IS your community) this can be pretty bad.  But, it's far from being worth losing a child over.  Even if you had to move somewhere else entirely it's not worth losing your child.
