Dancer in the Dark is probably the saddest movie I've seen, but it's also the kind of movie you either really enjoy or really can't stand so...

I mean it's going to be depressing either way but if you can't stand the music or the camerawork then you can't get that far into it.

Speaking of sad Futurama episodes, the one where Fry dies from the bee sting is petty sad.  Or maybe it's... maybe it's beautiful?  Either way it's really good.

Everyone cried when we thought Pikachu was going to leave Ash...

Everyone.

Then we just cried more when he didn't.

Yeah, my friend actually cried at the Futurama episode Luck of the Fryish... Not quite sure how.

And velfarre, i think people cried even more during the first movie when ash turned to stone and all the pokémon cried... BUT THEN THAT BROUGHT HIM BACK TO LIFE. :O :O :O

i cried when he lost the pokemon league but that was it. you knew him and his pokemon would be alright, but the story built up to the pokemon league and you thought he'd win and that'd be the conclusion.

also while we're on the subject, have they made pokemon crystal in GBA cartridges? i might get a micro if they have.

and then mewtwo was all "man now i feel really bad" so decided to never show his ugly-ass face again

good movie, good movie.

but not depressing.

i'm trying to think of a depressing film but nothing's coming. maybe i just need to get in the mood. in eighth grade my math teacher showed us I am Sam, which i'm probably sure you've heard about and i doubt it's what you're looking for. everyone in my class pretty much bawled their eyes out. it's about a mentally retarded person who tries to keep custody of his young daughter.

can I just say I don't understand this? and I don't mean "EVERYONE NEEDS A GOOD CRY..." or anything, but panda linked me a review of Dear Zachary where half the reviews at the bottom said "ugh...I'm not gonna watch this. it will ruin me" or "thanks for warning me! I won't watch, I'm a big wuss for stuff like this!"

the only time I won't watch a depressing movie is if I can figure out it's deliberately pulling heartstrings. like if Dear Zachary wasn't real I might still cry but I'd also be annoyed at the director for making such a lowblow. it's why I didn't like the Kite Runner either; so much awful shit happens you begin to wonder if the director has any sense of reality.

also here is a movie I find a specific kind of depressing I bet no one will agree with: The Fall. the premise is this guy who is kind of suicidal over his lost love and ruined career is telling this girl a big fish story about these five guys trying to defeat an evil king. the thing is, since he's making it up as he goes along, at the end he starts becoming really depressed and starts killing off the characters. the little girl starts begging him "no! why! stop it I love them!" and he's like NOTHING IS EVER GOOD and he starts killing off his own character and the little girl's character is all "get up papa!" and he's all "I'M NOT YOUR FATHER! LEAVE ME ALONE! I ONLY WANTED YOU SO YOU COULD STEAL ME MORPHINE SO I COULD DIE!"

it ends happier but man that entire scene I felt so sad as the little girl keeps crying and telling him to stop killing off the characters because he is killing...parts of himself...
why did you expect nobody to agree with you i found the fall to be a pretty depressing movie exactly because of this
