You ever wondered what the most wanted and unwanted paintings are? Well there they are, apparently.

Some russian scientist guys, the same who did the most wanted and unwanted songs, did this project too. Now the uncanny thing is about roughly 11 of them are pretty much the god damned same thing. A tree (the exact same tree), big ocean/lake, some hills, deer, scarcly different terrain (plains), some patriotism/national symbol, and big blue skies all in the same location of each painting. I geuss it's cause they're the same painting done by different artisits, but man. The only one out of them that is unique is Russia's, and even the tree is different with a little island in the background for China.

Some of the least wanted options are a little funny like the naked statue, power ranger, and elvis one clumped together for Italy when you'd expect it for America. And Denmark's.

BTW, we need an Arts section to discuss art.

A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

Holland's weird man. Their most wanted looks like everyone else's least wanted and their most wanted looks kinda like everyone elses most wanted (the cat is the tree, the window is the sky, the shelf is the moutnain)
don't mind me, just postin' after a few brewskies
somebody’s Barkley --- could be another’s Monopolo.

that must be a cry of joy for whatever hes doin. if i had his..."frame", i wouldn't be upset.
Django only had one finger, its as big as four cats, and hes got a retractable leg so he can leap up at you better and you know what?He lights up at night, and hes got four ears. Two of them are for listening and the other two are kind of back-up ears, and his claws are as big as cups and for some reason hes got a tremendous fear of stamps and Mrs Doyle was tellin me that hes got magnets on his tail so if youre made out of metal he can attach himself to you,and instead of a mouth its got four arses

How can you not like that painting.

I don't think they showed them the painting, but asked people what they disliked. and let's face it a lot of gw would, if asked about nudity in art, balk if the question also said "how about huge brown dicks?"

so it's not like they dislike the painting so much as the painting is a combo of dislikes; a giant penis done in a digital style.

if you squint, every 'wanted' painting is the SAME ONE

except for holland of course. I wonder if they took the survey high, because I imagine that painting looks quite smashing... ON WEED

Yeah, I loved San Andreas, but it was just such a black game. :x Like. Eh, I dunno, it was all so frickin' black, and I enjoyed the atmosphere of Vice City more.

I listened to a podcast about this and yes they commented on how they're all lake scenes and usually feature people and mountains except for the netherlands. the guy joked it was because they had too much natural beauty there.

elvis and power rangers

first of all, i like this painting over the generic tree paintings...

second, this survey must be flawed somehow. did the people only have an option between like 15 really bad paintings?
i'm to lazy to read the details right now, but it seems pretty messed up.  :fogetshrug:

I'm pretty sure they asked people what they liked to see. do you think they really just made different landscape photos and made people choose?

so in the above people said they didn't like pop culture shit and fully fleshed out dicks.

what does this have to do with taste in art

i thought it was kind of funny when they asked people if they prefer to see domesticated or wild animals in paintings and most said domestic though. dogs playing poker, please

This is completely arbitrary. It's not like the average person has the innate ability to visualize vague survey questions. This is kind of like a web developer asking his prospective client DO YOU WANT BUTTONS ON YOUR SITE Y/N.

okay, so if i read this correctly, they broke down paintings into stupid questions like "do you like straight lines or curved lines?" then surveryed a few thousand people in a bunch of countries and on the internet. then they got different artists from each of the countries to paint a piece based on the results.

that's like asking 5 different artists to paint a picture of a red circle centered on a blue background and being shocked when they turn out the same.

the individual questions asked have little to do with the overall painting ("what's your second favourite colour?" wtf?).

some of the results don't even add up to 100%...

boulvae, where did you find this?

I for one am glad that this topic isn't in the subforum for discussing such matters then.

Really this topic is giving off a "general" vibe in an uncanny manner.
