remember when you where in highschool and there was some shit about how there is an electron cloud because we cant know with absolte certainty the position of an electron? well its this bullshit. basically in the subatomic level the laws of quantum mechanics govern momentum and position. it makes more sense to think of the electron as a standing spherical wave and the peaks of the wave are where you will most probably find the electron. that wavefunction is the solution  to that differential equation i just posted

Man, this part of the semester is horrendous.

its the schrodinger equation for a hydrogen atom. basically, after doing a lot of nasty symbols dance you can get an expression that can give you the probability of finding the electron at a certain coordinate. all of this also has to do with the shape of the orbital, the quantization of the hydrogen energy levels, etc

its really fascinating but ive never been challenged mentally so much throughout my life until starting to do physics seriously

Studying for my vertebrate cell biology exam - its mostly on neurogenesis (formation of neurons) but also on chondrogenesis (cartilage formation) and connective tissue and such.

fun fact: study found that london cab drivers all had ridiculously huge hippocampuses (hippocampi ???) which helped them navigate through the streets of London without maps or the aid of parallel/perpendicular streets like in NYC

also tomorrow i ahve some bullshit astronomy exam about really boring stuff like observation techniques. also i will have a star test where i will go otuside and will have to name the constellations

dude academia science life is horrible. those dudes have it the worst. most of them are non tenured and they get paid the equivalent of senior janitors and survive in 3 year contracts

yeah what climbtree said. you pretty much can't get into med school unless you have like a 3.6-3.8 science gpa.

i was reading some averages and its generally around 3.5 in mid tier schools. so it probably means theres some people enterin below the 3.5 benchmark
