we don't have poll topics around here very often but...

me and headphonics got in a little "argument" over this so let's at least get the statistics straight among this very representative and official population of gw nerds...

HOW OFTEN DO YOU WASH YOUR HANDS ON AN AVERAGE DAY??? I am not going to define "hand-washing" for you, so it this means "let some water from the faucet drip on my palms" to you, so be it.

Please try and post in the topic to explain your habits so we all know how dirty/clean you are.

P.S. Usernames are turned off in the poll. I didn't bother adding "0" as that is obviously the joke option. mark, you can just vote "1"

When you combine washing my hands after using the bathroom and to get the smell and dirt from my dogs off of my hands (since I can't pass by a window without seeing them outside and wanting to play with them), it goes quite a bit over 6 times a day.

I put 5-6, but I didn't really read the post before hand. I consider washing my hands to be the act that involves one's hands and water, both accompanied by soap.

I usually just let water run on my hands for a short time if I had just done something as trivial as pee or if I happen to have uncomfortable food on my hands.

the average is about six times a day, counting showers so I choose 5-6 and 6+

Two times a day, usually. On the other hand, I'm totally unpredictable when it comes to washing hands. It just depends on what I'm doing. I always wash my hands when I go to the cinema.

Well every time I go to the bathroom, plus if you count showering, uhh... also I'm a cook so my answer is a bit skewed.

every time i do something that you need to wash your hands after.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

on a work day, at least 6 times.  i'm a cashier, so i get my hands on lots of dirty money.  i try to wash them after cigarettes, too, because i've been getting some nasty-looking nicotine stains.

About once or twice, which is also the amount of times I go to the bathroom per day. I may wash them more if anything occurs.

6+, every time i go into the bathroom or kitchen.

not like ocd-worthy soapy scrubbing, but usually just rinsing. idk, i dont like leaving a wetroom with dry hands, its weird.

6 times is too low for a maximum. If you cook dinner yourself you should be at at least 3 (wash before, after preparing the meat and before eating). Then add two bathroom visits and washing yourself in the morning and you're on 6 already. That's on an average day without doing anything in addition.

If you don't do it at least 6 times, remind me to never shake your hand...

I don't wash my hands before eating or after going to the toilet or whatever. that sounds digusting cos i just said eating and toilet in the same sentence but it isn't, really. I just don't see the need. BACTERIA whatever, I'm fine, I'm not sick and I can't see it so who cares. I don't tell people this or anything cos everyone would be grossed out or at least pretend to be but I have had a few little conversations with people who are like "yeah i wash my hands in the morning that's pretty much it, though.".

I just don't care?

There's probably more pee and cum on a public toilet's faucet than i've ever had on my hands!

I wanna see some hard evidence. My hands smell fine. Sometimes they smell nice when I wash'em with a delicious soap. What's wrong with the way I'm doing it? Nobody has ever noticed other than to say "your hand smells nice" when I know it smells nice so you don't need to tell me cos I know cos I used that good soap of mine.

i wash my hands every time i go to the bathroom but that's not too often, i'll just say 5-6. more often if i am cooking obviously but since i don't do that here it's moooot. also i don't wash my hands before/after every meal because idk it is not as big a deal to me as bathrooms are. public bathrooms are kind of gross

i know a lot of my friends don't, we don't have any way of drying our hands off in the bathrooms this year because no one felt like putting a communal cloth in. i don't see why that matters to anyone but it does

jamie, this is the proper method of washing hands as delineated in my bathroom:

1: wet hands
2: apply soap, rub for like 20 seconds
3: dry hands off with a paper towel (not provided)
4: turn off faucet with paper towel

I care! So YOU'RE the guy who keeps giving me URTI!

You're not crazy. The door handle is the third most dirty surface you might touch in a restroom. The first and second being the toilet seat and faucet, respectively.
