Even if it was a satire like the church of the fsm the church of the fsm is represented by only the worst kind of atheist, so if objectivism was a parody it would only be represented by the worst kind of libertarians. Only difference is that the worst atheists are a minority of atheists. The worst libertarians are all of them.

I've never had any CRAZY bosses, but I have one extremely incompetent one right now.  It's so bad that even the fucking customers realise she's a waste.

For example;  A customer needed an item brought down from the shelf and taken to her car.  I can't leave the register, and have no clue which department to page, so I call my manager to ask.  Her response: "Well you're gonna have to page the department for a flat cart", I than ask, "okay, what department?"  She walks away.

It would've been easy if it was something like a grill or exercise equipment because those are in one place.  The customer needed a desk...  Theres like 6 different department those are in.

Well, I'd talk to my union rep. But I guess that's not an option for you. My advice is to just avoid her for the time being. When you're done with your current project, hand in your resignation. Like you said, if you're the main artist you could get black-listed if you just quit in the middle of things. But you're clearly hurting yourself in the long run by staying.

Is that because I mentioned Marx and Rand in the same sentence or because I'm horribly wrong in some way? I was under the impression that she was the philosophical giant behind that movement. I'm actually kind of interested in reading something that will help me understand it better because virtually everything I've read about this movement is ridiculous.

She wrote bad novels and pretty much promoted a childish worldview
She's completely insignificant in libertarian philosophy so the comparison is like saying dan brown is the karl marx of theology. its just a completely inappropriate analogy.

If you want to understand libertarianism, read max stirner

people like rush limbaugh, clarence thomas, alan greenspan, and charles murray all cite her as a major influence.

i'm not disagreeing with you on them being childish, but to dismiss her influence as only being in college freshman just isn't correct!

Just an FYI: libertarianism doesn't really exist anymore outside of anarchist circles. The US libertarian party is basically a bunch of classical liberals(small gov. & freemarket/ronpaul).

:) this is an awful derail

yeah joe's right. rand is an objectivist which is the philosophy behind almost every pop libertarian you meet but they are different.

just not in any way most people other than poli sci nerds will notice though!

i mean, Jeff is not a dumb guy. how could he think that the dominance of political corporations with no oversight whatsoever would be a good thing? they have such a great track record with that anyway

That's kind of surprising to me. I knew she was the one who came up with Objectivism and thought this was supposed to be the leading principle behind mainstream libertarianism.

I still have a lot to learn...
