Well, the conclusion I've come to is that it's possible to contrive the argument enough to work, but if you have to force it to work, what's the point, right?
I guess, I mean, people do play games to experience challenges, but challenges aren't about experiencing pain, and the pleasure isn't derived from experiencing that pain, but rather being able to overcome it and beat the challenge. You can say that that's masochism in some way or another, but really, it's fuzzy and it doesn't really hold a lot of weight. Most people, and I say this as a general thing, won't play games exclusively to be punished. The idea that some people do isn't outlandish, but it's definitely not the general goal.

Honestly, though. I don't know, I think Square's pretty much lost any faith I used to have in it. I'm too 'cool' for Square or something.
Luckily, I've got an uncle who's a pretty big critic of Square's work but tends to enjoy some of their better older games. I'll probably
go ask him what he thinks about it when he gets it.

It's a great game, it looks real pretty and you'll have a couple of 
moments. I haven't really delved into the multiplayer all that much, but then again, I can't play any multiplayer at all on this shit connection. So I'm at a loss on that.
However, the single player game is pretty awesome and well thought out. My biggest gripe with it however, is that you don't really ever feel like you're doing something really important, or like you're a BADASS. I don't know how they managed to do it either considering the mech level and the fact that you get to go one on one with lunatic veteran with a knife and a cloaking device. But they do. Really, the single player is GREAT. It's just not something I'd like to play again. I can't really explain it.

It's just that by telling us those specific things about your friend, with absolutely no other context in regards to why you still choose to be his friend, says a lot more about yourself than it does about your friend.
Besides the fact that he's strange though, he's got a good heart and he's entertaining to say the least. I mean, we get into some great conversations as long as key topics are avoided.(See above) I guess I did rip on him pretty hard, but what can I say?

I should probably evaluate. Most of the shit here in the G&D section we've got no hope for. Not uh, my class anyways. I'm not sure exactly who else is in that class, but RM2K was pretty fun when we were young, but it's not the case anymore, and we don't have those magical goggles that makes everything seem awesome. I remember when I used to think the second Mortal Kombat movie was pretty FUCKING AWESOME. I uh, watched it this year and I couldn't manage the first quarter of it. And the whole time I was thinking, "What the fuck?" Yeah I was really really disappointed, that's happened a lot to me recently.
Before I start to ramble off topic though, all I gotta say is: You can't just expect people to make 'brilliance' or something. Kids out there want to make their little fantasy adventures and show everyone just how 'cool' it is so they can get a gold star. Don't take it so personally. And before you start getting all pissy, at least look in the mirror or at the past, I'm sure you'll find something that will make you say, "Fuck, I really regret that."

Marvel Comics(Likewise, when someone mentions Disney he gets very angry and screams for hours about
how terrible they are. I wore a mickey shirt around him one day. It was the best day of my life.)
Okay, so cool. He likes the games and enjoys the story. The problem is, he never shuts the fuck up and nobody
else really wants to hear him rant about how awesome the games are. Fgfgmfg. He's not too bright, and doesn't
really seem to notice whenever I throw out a veiled insult at him. That and he's kind of uh, unable to speak with
anyone right. Total fucking dork.(If the chart is correct. I think it might be.)
Me? I've got my obsessions and what not, but I have this thing that lets me realize that nobody wants to hear
me go all FANBOY over it. I wouldn't say I'm entirely too smart, but I can, at the least, analyze whatever situation
I'm in and act accordingly. Most of the time anyways.
