Hello tomohawkjoe.

When i saw this thread i said to myself ''Hell i'll show him some kickass bands'', But when i saw ''No indie'' my list kinda dropped.

So here it goes, i'll try to post up some good bands, and what appears to me as their best album, and my preferred song.

Electronic music

Underworld - Beaucoup Fish (Try the song ''Push Upstairs'')

Überzone - Ideology

Ladytron - 604 (Try the song ''This is our sound'')

Juno Reactor - Labyrinth (Try the song ''Giant'' and ''War Dogs'')

Rock

Blue Oyster Cult - Blue Oyster Cult (Try the song ''Cities on flame with Rock and roll'')
Imaginos (Try the song ''The Siege and Investiture of Baron Von Frankenstein's Castle at Weisseria'')

Dinosaur Jr. - Green Mind (Try the song ''Puke+Cry'')

Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine (Try the song ''Black History Month'')

King's X - King's X (Try the song ''The World Around Me'') (Well, King's X different on every album, so look around a bit)

The (International) Noise Conspiracy - The (International) Noise Conspiracy (Try the song ''New Empire Blues'')

Grand Theft Bus - Flies In The No Fly (Try the song ''Leader'') (A good band even if their song titles suck)

Oceansize - Everyone Into Position (Try the song ''A Homage to a shame'')

Experimental rock

Sigur Ros - Ágætis byrjun (Try the song ''Avalon'')

Sonic Youth - any songs on ''Dirty'' and ''Goo''

The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium (Try the song ''Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt'')

Primus - All albums are remarquable (Although i didn't really like Antipop), but my favorite stays ''Pork Soda'' (Try the song ''Mr. Krinkle'' or ''Hamburger Train'')

Instrumental Rock (No seriously, it's good!)

This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain EP (Try the song ''Grandfather Clock'')

Magyar Posse - Kings Of Time (Try the song ''II'')

Joe Satriani - Surfing with the alien (Try the song ''Satch Boogie'')

Metal

Kyuss - 3 Albums are classic, but ''Welcome to the Sky Valley'' stays my favorite (Try the song ''Whitewater'' and ''Gardenia'')

Candlemass - 13th Sun (Try the song ''Elephant Star'', and make sure your volume is not TOO high.)

Spiritual Beggars -  Ad Astra (Try the song ''Angel of Betrayal'', one of the best riffs i've heard in years.)

Sons Of Butcher - Sons Of Butcher (Try the song ''Fuck The Shit''. N.B. those guys have a TV show, a fusion between serious and comedy metal, still have some kickass riffs)

Once again those are only personnal suggestions, you take whatever you want. If you want a quick look just type that in in YouTube and you should get the song without any problem. I hope you'll like it.

Am i mistaken or some consider New Kids On The Block to be the ''pioneers'' of the concept?

Needless to say that this year was a great year in music. Here's the albums that caught my attention this year.

5. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation

- Excellent album, with contemporary themes, vibrant tone, agressive riffs -- Worth buying.

4. Leonard Cohen - I'm your man

- A nice comback, that's the least i can say, for that Mr. Cohen, who made a remarkable use of synths, and many other instruments.

3. King's X - Out of the silent planet

- A promising debut album for that rising band -- King's X. Worth listening

2. Soundgarden - Ultramega OK

- Kind of obvious there.

And finally, the crème of the crème, Blue Öyster Cult -  Imaginos

- This album must be credited to Albert Bouchard, BÖC's drummer for several years, who thought of this concept -- A brillant rock opera using technology (modern synths, etc.), and a story that revolves around an agent of misfortune who uses power of dreams to unleash a plague of evil on the real world. A must-have.

Oh wait did you say 2007?

They're never gonna make it up to Wind Waker. I took 6 months to gather all the Triforce pieces.

I think The Offspring didn't do anything wrong until 2000.
