Actually a while back there was talk of "rebooting" Thief into a modern game. So kinda cyberpunk instead of steampunk. You'd still use stealth and melee, and guards will mostly be melee based. Garrett again would be the main character (tho a bit modern). Dunno if that is the direction they are heading.

Here was a concept art of the "modern" Garrett.

Alone in the Dark

Fatal Frame does look pretty good from what I've seen of it, but otherwise, I don't really know. I think there's a few obscure horror games for the PS2, if you want to check that out.

Then again, I think there's a game called Obscure for PS2, and iirc it's an horror game. It was recommended to me a while back, but I never even looked into it.

Also, you may want to maybe think about looking into Haunting Grounds. From what I've played of it, it's an ok horror game, although not the most terrifying. But then again, you named Doom 3 and Resident Evil(they don't all seem too terrifying to me) as horror games, so..

And for last, I think I remember a game on PSX that was a mix of horror and RPG. Galerians, iirc. I think it has a sequel too. You could look into that, but I can't promise anything, I never played it.
As a kid I also though Parasite Eve was pretty terrifying.... but eh... not so much anymore.

The choice is up to you, chief.

EDIT: Holy crap, how could I miss this? Clock Tower for SNES and the REAL second Clock Tower for PSX. I can't recall what the real second game is called, but you have to be careful because there's some subpar Clock Tower game that came out for PSX aswell, but I think the lame one is just called Clock Tower because the SNES one never came out outside of Japan. There's also one for PS2, but I don't know if it's any good.

And don't brush the first Clock Tower off as a horror game because it's a SNES game. It's very, very good.

I don't know, Undying?

Played Undying.... forgot to list that

Hmm heard of Clocktower, but didn't see it as a good horror game (bad cover art?) will check it out. Didn't know there was a SNES game... and a horror one at that? Will have to see how it looks. Also Grunthor, I really want to try out Eternal Darkness, heard of things like it pretending to clear your memory card and beheading your character (while still alive/walking around). Sounds awesome!

So just finished playing Penumbra and I am craving another scary game. Can anyone recommend to me any? More preferably a psychological mind-fuck then a closet jumping zombie (Resi Evil) type game.

Already have play:

System Shock 1/2
Resi Evils
Silent Hills
Penumbra
Doom 3
Siren

Currently I am looking at Fatal Frame, Sanitarium, and a horror game I saw on youtube who's name eludes me, but has you ehhh sight jack into zombies you kill, seeing their last moments before death (including a cow beheaded for slaughter). Fatal Frame looks good after seeing this scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb1nVP6RX7E&feature=related (Swearing in film)

The problem I see is these schools/courses probably don't have any leverage when applying for a job. When you look at any job application for a game studio, most of the time they ask for a degree in a certain field. IE Programmers require Bachelors in Computer Science.

hmm as unsettling as it sounds (cause I as you guys, grew up in a culture where we treat dogs as man's best friend), if there is a want for dog meat to be prepared and sold in restaurants/stores, then I have no problem with legalization. I have seen much worse animals/body parts sold for consumption (cow hearts? pig tongues?). Heck I sometimes eat a Polish sausage called kaszanka which is just pig's blood and buckwheat grain. So other then the ewww factor, and how our culture represents dogs, is what really keeps something like that legalized. HOWEVER, the torture of ANY animal (dog, cow, chicken) like described in that movie (link down), even if it will be used for food, should be prohibited. Don't we already regulate that for cow, swine, and poultry slaughter? And I don't believe that BS that it "makes the meat tastier". Aren't endorphins usually situated in the brain?

btw, I myself however wouldn't try it, unless maybe if someone dared me.

You could always sell your Phat DS on eBay and part exchange your Lite for the DSi. You'd prob end up paying less than £50. I mean do you really need 2 DSs anyway?

That looks interesting....

It's out soon too!

Yea, but as people said, no GBA slot. I have a rumble pack and the opera browser, so that just screws me over.

jesus christ would you listen? even if kim jong il did decide to fire off a nuke

A) wouldnt be able to reach much farther than japan or mainland china
B) the korean peninsula would literally be wiped off the map by a US, Chinese, or Russian retaliatory attack

believe it or not, even CRAZY, MANIAC, POWER HUNGRY dictators and whatnot are at least logical enough to not fire off a single (or hell, even several) nuclear missile(s). the reason the soviet union was the only real nuclear threat at the time was because they had enough to actually win a nuclear exchange, and even that may be debatable.

I understand that, but it also causes a problem. What if they hypothetically attacked a country (IE: South Korea) using normal means (Infantry, Navy, Air). Would a country risk attacking N.K. in retaliation with the risk of getting Nuked?

Does anyone play, or has played MUDs (Multi-User Dungeon)? They are basically the early form of MMORPGs, but were text based. I played one called Realms of Kaos for the longest time.

Geez. Didn't you play Metal Gear Solid? This is what they meant when they said nuclear deterrence would no longer cut it when irresponsible nations become able to use the technology.

Seriously though, I don't think they have a viable nuclear program. The Manhattan Project cost about $24 billion in 2008 dollars. Even if they somehow manage to buy a bomb from a country that already has them (China or Russia) I sincerely doubt they'd be able to actually put them to use. There's too much knowledge required and they don't exactly come with an instructions manual.

Like you say, it's a card that will allow them more weight on the international stage.

Yea, but the Manhattan Project was inventing PLUS creation of a nuclear bomb.... I think it would be much cheaper to build one off of some blueprints. Heck you can get the blueprints to create a nuke off of google lol.

North Korea has successfully tested a nuclear bomb in '06 so there's no question that they have it. The problem for them is that it's unlikely they could have miniaturized one to fit in a missile/rocket warhead

I heard that the detonation failed, and it couldn't be classified as a nuclear bomb. Anyway, wtf is Kim Jong thinking? They have a terrible military, and would probably get decimated if a country invaded. They are like that annoying kid who acts all tough and makes fun of people, but if someone ever retaliated, would get the shit beaten out of him. Let's just hope he is taken out of power before nukes start getting into play here.

I'm content with my Fat DS and my DS Lite. If I needed a camera I'd use the one in my phone, or a real dedicated one.

Not really a news source, more like a collection of articles from everywhere, but I get some of my news tidbits from digg.com.

Capcom "Were going to change the formula of RE with six"

RE6 Announcement "You can now RUN & SHOOT!!! That's right you fucken bitches!"

I honestly expect this and that be it. I really enjoyed RE5 as it was a great and enjoyable game to play through, especially with a friend but to take away the series long sought appeal of Survival horror makes you feel a little cheated by the game.

Too bad we won't see the next one for another 8 years... 4 if lucky: http://fwd.five.tv/profiles/Jason_Bradbury/gaming/resident-evil-5 (Go to 2:20 or so)

btw, these drones are for recon, so there isn't any killing in this case... for now. Actually I wonder if there are any weapons on these drones, to protect it from getting shot down or something.

Looks like in the UK, the Royal Air Force is looking for gamers to fly their unmanned drones, instead of pilots. Looking at the picture in the article, it would make sense, looks like a really detailed video game. Link to the article: http://kotaku.com/5164562/royal-air-force-prefers-gamers-to-pilots

Was watching a show about subs, you know there are 12 nuclear subs, swimming (right word?) in the ocean, which contain 24 (288 in total) nukes each? According to the show, they are so stealthy, no one knows where they are, except the crew on board. As Kaempfer said, these subs could destroy Earth ALONE.

Missile they use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trident_missile
The sub: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_class_submarine

Added: This is for the US btw, so add on all the other countries with these things and you got a shit ton of nukes.
