Been a long time since I did one of these but with less time playing WoW and less hours at work I've found myself actually watching up-to-date anime for the first time in awhile so I thought I might as well summarize the season like I used to. I'll do 2-3 series per post at least once a day till i cover all the new series. I won't be covering any sequals.

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

Links: Animesuki, Official Site, AniDB
Studio: Nomad (Rozen Maiden, Sola)
Rating: 10
Summary: 1000 years ago a giant evil creature named Enka attempted to destroy the Earth. Humans, just before dying out, worked together to kill the creature. Enka cried out as it died that it's child will continue his work in 1000 years and finish off Earth. Now, at the prophesied time several creatures on earth are showing signs of possibly being Enka's child. A special paranormal branch of the police have tracked down these potential destroyers and have bought them together with one of their own to act as a family while under constant surveillance to determine and kill the child of Enka, or potentially teach it to like Earth and decide not to destroy it after all.
Impressions: Wow this series was over the top. It's full of a kind of energy that can only be compared to Pani Poni Dash off the top of my head, but instead of falling back on non-stop references to Japanese pop culture the show is entirely plot and character driven humor. I loved it and am eagerly awaiting the second episode. Apparently the animators are even going the extra mile and have designed a unique ending song and animation for each of the 8 channels the show is airing on, each based off of one of the characters.

Soul Eater

Links: Official Site, AniDB
Studio: BONES (Darker than Black, Ouran Koukou Host Club)
Rating: 7
Summary: In the shinigami world, weapon technitions and their weapons (able to turn into a human form) work together to collect the souls of wicked humans. The story follows 3 such technitions: Maka, daughter of the great Shinigami king's own weapon, and her weapon Soul Eater, Black Star and Tsubaki, a modern day japanese ninja, and Death the Kid with his dual guns the Thompson sisters. Each has their own strength and weaknesses as well as their own personal yet inter-twining stories.
Impressions: I was a reader of the Soul Eater manga way back when it was first scanlated and enjoyed the beginning but fell behind with the infrequent releases, so I had already decided to check this out when I heard it was becomming an anime. The first episode was basically a mirror of the first chapter, which introduces Maka and Soul Eater. Both have...interesting voice actors. Soul's voice is deep but somehow fitting. Maka however is voiced by someone relatively new to the job and it shows. Her voice is flat an unemotional the entire time, practically a robotic monotone. It has a bit of potential though and doesn't ruin the show for me. Overall it looks to be a rather stylized and interesting Shounen series worth checking out for people who usually shy away from them.

Oh I wouldn't plan on getting 8gb for awhile; I just wanted to be sure my comp could be upgraded to last over the next 3 years or so without being obsolete. I figure there's a decent enough chance that in 2 years or so 6gb or more could be usable by games so i might as well prepare now.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

1. For the case my parents actually did a pretty awesome thing and fronted me some circuit city gift cards to get this case so I'm definately gonna take them up on that offer.

2. For the motherboard I honestly couldn't find a single way to figure out which boards supported SLI at all or not, so I just searched SLi among all the PCI-E 2.0 boards and that came up. Would this board work?

3. That was actually the original supply I picked out but after using newegg's power calculator for my system fully decked out (8mb ram dual 8800GTS) it suggested 750MHz and with the 850MHz supply only a bit more than the 800 I figured better safe than sorry. You think the 700 might be good enough after all?

4. With a motherboard with DDR2 1200 standard for memory could I use any ram with numbers UP TO 1200? Because there arn't any 2gb sticks in DDR2 1200 and I wanted to have 8gb ram eventually.

So my desktop has been officially archaic for about 6 months now and with me coming into some money in two months I wanted to start looking at potential parts for my replacement I'll be building. When I made my current comp Belross actually picked out the parts for me but I think I've know enough now to at least attempt to get a list of parts together that'll work. Just note that I want this to be a gaming computer and to try and keep the price around $1500 while still being semi-future proof. My big thing is I want to be able to SLI it in a year or so when it starts to fall behind as a quick burst in power to keep it up to date. Right now the price total is at $1,625.39 and while I'm not hurting to lower it I would like to try and avoid raising that number if at all possible. I'm getting $500 fom my parents and $500 from a CD I have maturing soon so the rest is out of my pocket.

My current processor is a AMD Athlon 64 3200+. I've compared it to a laptop running Intel Core 2 due (both 2.0gHz) and it's literally 4 times faster so I was hoping to achieve the same improvement.

Well I have two problems. Long story short I have about $350 with which to upgrade my computer to hold out another year or so before I build a new one. My biggest setback is my motherboard. I'm looking at upgrading my video card and processor.

For my video card I've been looking at this and this. I was woundering if anyone could confirm if they would actually work with my motherboard in the first place and, if they do, which would be best. I've always preferred NVIDIA but I'm open to ATI if the card is superior.

As far as processors go I'm at a loss. According to the bios upgrade here My motherboard should be able to support duel-core processors. If this is true, then would this processor be handled by my system? Any help would be appriciated.

Just finished watching episodes 24-25 and wow, I don't want to spoil anything but it's going to be really hard to wait for season 2 to start after the ending of season 1. Geass has been really good at rising the tension of the situation without it getting to the point where it's exhausting to watch the show. You can get the final episodes on irc at #[email protected]. The bot is pretty fast too; I got it at 1mb/s.

Suppose I should finally post in this!

Watching
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Awesome mix between NHK and PaniPoni)
Kenko Zenra Kei Sueibu Umisho (Probably gonna drop)
Moetan (Pretty funny Mahou Shoujo Parody)
Code Geass (Final Episode any day now)
Hayate no Gotoku (Just plain fun, though less so lately)
Kaze no Stigma (Decent action series with good characters)
Lucky Star (Gets better every episode)

I think that's about it. Not much this season, though the last episodes of Code Geass should make up for that

Has anybody else had trouble running the new Dungeon Maker? I've acquired two version and both didn't work.

You need at least firmware 3.4 to run Dungeon Maker. You'll also need to set the psp to play games at 333mHz if you havn't already.

So, looks like Suikoden II freezes not very far into the game (was excellent as far as FIRST 30 MINUTES GOES anyway), so I think I am going to get Xenogears as I've hear good things about it
I read something about a suikoden II bug where your name had to be 6 letters in all caps or something for it to run. Sounds stupid, I know, but might as well give it a try! Oh and I've been enjoying Scummvm on my psp immensely, and portable FFT is a dream come true.

I just got my psp today (Hurray for free stuff on birthdays) and I was woundering if anyone could reccomend a good site that basically has all the homebrew stuff for psp all in one? I've been searching around and most of the sites I've found are far less than what you'd call trustworthy.

Urgent news and I just don't know where to post it: You can buy some rather cool trinkets atm. The jewlcrafting recepies have lagged in some vendor, making the very trinkets they prescribe buyable. Alliance side, there's a pnther stealth figurine and a crab defense figurine aviable from the dudess at the bottom of the stairs leading to the master tailor (in a house) in Theramore. Then there's a +20 shadow damage ring called ring of bitter shadows, aviable from a campfire dude at LHC. Horde have some on their side too, but dunno where to get 'em.
They're also disenchanting into small radients at a decent rate, and if not you grab some nether essences. A guildie of mine camped the vendor for an hour or so disenchanting them as they spawned and made about 50g

One thing we did to prevent rogues from going for the same trap is designate 3 of them on trap duty: one stays behind the raid, one with the raid, and one in front of the raid. That way at all times the 3 traps are down and there is minimal chance that the raid will get the aura.

omg no not dkp! does every guild here operate on dkp ?
Dkp is just horrible
There are different kinds. My guild uses a modified zero sum, they obviously use a bidding system(Which I dislike) I love how the mage payed 1/20 what the hunter did for the same tier of gear.
