i liked advent children more than i liked ff7 itself




and that's mostly just because it looks really fuckin awesome on a nice hdtv


that's the only thing too, they both are really awful but at least advent children looks nice

advent children was terrible. it was everything terrible about anime and videogames combined into one with ff7s characters and story thrown over top of it to make it smell a little less bad

nah ff7 had ATMOSPHERE at points which advent children never ever came close to having

like where because i don't remember any that weren't clouded by CHILDHOOD, when i replayed it i didn't come across anything of the sort



idk the only highlight i can think of is YOU GET TO DRESS CLOUD AS A GIRL i thought that was really funny as a kid

bort once told me why final fantasy was much cooler than advent children and I actually sat back and said oh man fuck that's true.

in advent children cloud blocks a bullet with his sunglasses while riding down a motorway and it makes you squirm or really hope anyone who is seeing you watch this hears you say a little too loudly "HOW IRONICLY FUNNY"

in ff7 sephiroth has killed everyone, is standing in front of a reactor, and Cloud, who has seen his childhood friend basically DIE outside and is horribly wounded, stabs Sephy @_@ in the back, and pushes him into a reactor.

one of these scenes is stupid flip around shit, the other is honestly hardcore as fuck and I wish more people would realize the idea of grizzled guys and gals who just FIGHT (see, oldboy hammer scene) are much much cooler than any HIIII *jumps through the air throws a mask dodge bullet lands with smirk*

I wholey agree with that. There were moments, albeit cheesy, in FF7 that stuck either a tone or emotion. like sephiroth destroying nibelheim or hearing about Seto fighting the gi soldiers and turning stone, or the death of Dyne that give that craptastic game some form of substance... whereas Advent Children was just... omg sephi is back because why not amirite? he has feathers and his out outfit and a masamune and lets goku through some ruins haaaaaaiiiiiiii ya!

metal gear's storyline is about as bad as any michael bay action movie except worse because a lot of the really stupid stuff (like liquid snake possessing ocelot through an arm implant) is honestly worse than the dumbest soap opera writing. anyone who thinks a metal gear movie would be a good idea is either a moron or doesn't understand that the standards for writing are very different for films and videogames. seriously with games you could just take a dumb storyline right out of wwe and slap in enough explosions and guns and then gamers and critics will call it a masterpiece. this is not how it works for film.

I think it's got a lot of funny quirks that fans love too. They are pretty lovingly crafted games. Not every game can you kick the locker off a door then get told off over codec for lying down on the hot babe poster on the underside.
