Heard it was basically an open world super hero game now like Prototype, Infamous, Crackdown, Just Cause 2 etc.

Oh, also I've been playing BLOPS2 Single Player. I 'Acquired' it and as far as I can tell that makes multiplayer impossible to participate in which is really what I wanted to play but $60? Fuck that. I'll wait for a sale I guess.

saints row 4

I've never played a saints row game because I assumed it was just a gta ripoff which it kind of is but I'm really liking this one. The dialogue is fucking hilarious. Or some parts are. Like right now I'm riding around with this pierce guy and they're doing some kareoke shit with the radio and its pretty funny. Zinyak fucked with biz markie, nobody fucks with biz markie
yeah some of it is actually funny, which is surprising bc it's a video game. SR3 is better tho. I heard SR1 and 2 were more like GTA clones, but I haven't played them.

I dunno, I haven't played any of those games, but when I think of open world I think of games like Fallout. there are activities and shops around Steelport, but besides that all the dialogue and everything comes from your homies or missions.

Actually SR2 was pretty funny as well. And it was pretty close to being as 'off the wall' as SR3. SR2 was when it still had some semblance of seriousness on occasion but was now leaning mostly into looney-ville. I actually played the PC version and had none of the commonly complained about issues that most had with the port so I was fortunate in that way.

SR1 was actually pretty good in its time but I'd definitely never be able to go back now after playing SR2 and up. Its almost bare bones in comparison as far as I recall. I played some of its multiplayer... It was terrible so I can understand why they stopped implementing it.

Oh also I flipping out because I'm playing CODBLOPS2 and I just realized I can't infinitely retry the strike missions and that they have a very heavy effect on story. I'm playing on Veteran difficulty (basically "Very Hard" and/or Hardest difficulty) specifically because I'm ok with dying a lot. But I'm less OK with getting a shitty ending because of finite retries on these missions that are super different in structure to the rest of the missions. Don't get me wrong they are interesting, but its changing of the status quo has put in in an awkward position, I'm a stickler for getting the 'best ending' on my first play through because I hate replaying games for multiple endings. In fact there are maybe 2 games I've ever beaten multiple times in my life and I did so for sheer fun and Coop.

I'm either going to try and see if there is a trainer mod to let me infinitely retry these missions or lower the difficulty to easy for basically assured victory. I'd prefer the former.

I feel like this could have been handled better, perhaps having separate difficulty settings for the Strike Missions would have worked, IDK. On top of this, the mode doesn't give you a lot of breathing room to actually learn what works in the mode in the first place. Like, I would have been OK with a 'training mode' where wins and losses don't count so I can learn the ropes. The tutorial did not actually cover any tactics or explain the fine details, just unit controls. I know the game got a lot of praise for actually breaking the mold with this introduction but I'm not a huge fan of branching story lines that Treyarch seems to like doing. Hell, I was event fairly upset when I found out that I could have saved a minor character in World at War if I had played well enough in a certain section. I did not, probably because I played veteran difficulty like usual. I barely survived when I did succeed but I would have retried the section had the game informed me "Hey! Player! you can actually save this guy! We aren't railroading him into death like 99% of games will do." It was like the game concealed the fact that I had technically failed at a side quest and told me to continue on, oblivious of the fact, and then only for me to find out that the only way to 'fix' my experience is to fucking replay that shit.

Yeah, OK I'm bitter about it. I just think that when a game deviates from the normal 'video game logic' that the game should fucking say so. As much as I loved the games, this is what ended up forcing me to replay a huge sections of Deus Ex and KOTOR 2 as well because I only discovered I had played the story wrong and the game never informed me. If I ever plan to get around to Mass Effect 3 I'll need to do the same with ME2 because my roommate knowingly misinformed me on a story element so that I would do a fairly ugly renegade action because he told me I'd lose Garrus as a teammate otherwise. That shit pissed me off though in that case it wasn't the games fault. My roommate in this case thought that lying to me to get me to break away from my OCD video game nature was for my own good. I did not agree. I don't speak with him anymore.

Its also really hard to know what actions to take in a game in order to get the 'good' ending in games with out actually spoiling the endings. I hate spoilers equally as much as I hate getting a non-cannon or 'bad' end. And not completing a game for these reasons is just not an option. Leaving me in an infuriating conundrum.

I'm not normally an angry or violent person but its this sort of stuff that makes me want to strangle people.

ha, cute. the female #3 southern belle voice is probably the most comedic voiceset in the game, tho I'm still disappointed they got rid of the russian and the hispanic voicesets from SR3

Been playing Stepmania, Percussion Freaks, O2mania, and Tetris. So it's a wonderful world of rhythm and timing.

Haha, fuck yeah I'm on LEVEL 3 at the second. It's insanely hard, and I suck at FPS games. Like my strategy has been SLOW AND STEADY, but there's a part early on in Level 1 (CONGO) where there's a red key and you're on thin crossroads platforms. You go slightly towards the red key and BAM, two chaingunners, a pain elemental, a mancubus, some lost souls, and a fucking beholder appear surrounding you. Fighting them all with a pistol and shotgun was ridiculous.

I'm savescumming the hell out of the game, but I had to do that with Doom 2 too :(. Otherwise I'd have never gotten very far in it at all.

Tactic that ended up working in that room (with 100%  health, 200% armour):

1) Shotgun the painelemental close range, as it keeps making fire souls. When it goes down (like 50% health left ;_;), do the same with the beholder.
2) Run from the fire souls, hide behind a platform, then take potshots at the mancubus. Like one/two shots, then hide behind a pillar.
3) Kill the lost souls whenever they get close, switching focus back to mancubus when they go down.
4) Run into the red key room and kill the two chaingunners, close range.
5) Try like eight or nine more times when this strategy causes you to die over and over again haha.

Eventually did it, but always by the skin of my teeth.

And fuck the Arch-Vile on the level. Like it can hit you from far away and it's on like a raised platform you can't reach.

Level completion stats:

Kills: 71%
Items: 0%
Secrets: 0%

;_;. I suck maybe.

yeah the archvile is a bitch because it keeps rezzing the chaingunner on the platform so you've gotta keep taking that out

You ever play Return to Castle Wolfenstein? It's the only other time I've really enjoyed a FPS (unless you count Fallout3/NV as an FPS :x)
