Hi
In essence GB:TVG is a "3rd Person Shooter", so you will pretty much, have the same abilities as a regular FPS, with the exception of the lack of an on-screen HUB.

Saw someone talking about nethack in the what is on your mind now topic and I decided to try it. It's really difficult but I like it how it's so complex and profound
Play Raimond Ex (if you haven't already)

xsmfpt instead of playing nethack, which requires an encyclopedic knowledge of esoteric exploits, you should probably play dungeon crawl. i mean that.

Yeah, I can hardly stand to play NetHack anymore.  You can only fire in eight directions, it's stupid!

I've been replaying Deus Ex recently, and it seems so much older than the last time I played it. I almost wish that they would remake it; exactly the way it was except with actual physics and updated graphics.

Also, I've played a lot of Oblivion, but I stopped suddenly after I got bored with my character.  Maybe I'll pick it up again when I have a better rig.

At the moment I'm playing Prince of Persia on the 360. I think it's a very pretty game to look at and the difficulty is pretty much spot on. For the most part it's pretty easy but this doesn't really effect the game since the main emphasis is on the flow. Constant dying would basically ruin this! Not too happy with the combat which is now pretty slow and sluggish compared to the earlier titles where you could bounce off the walls and go nuts on everyone. Also, I wasn't really happy at first with the Prince and how he was a bit of a douche but as a character I'm warming to him (maybe because he's SUCH a douche it's hard not to be amused by him!) At any rate he's a little bit more interesting than the well spoken royalty, or the Godsmack loving emo kid I've played as before.

Old but whatever:
started playing Mirror's Edge finally, took long enough to buy...
It's vibrant in the colour scheme and the gameplay is smooth and fast. However, when you die repetatively and your last checkpoint was on/in an elevator... bygods the game can be tedious.

Slowing down a bit on Persona 4, played 35 hours of it so far, and that's pretty much been constant 3-5 hours, nearing the end now though. Been playing the other Persona games apart from Eternal Punishment, 'cause I'm gonna finish Innocent Sin first, and Persona 3, 'cause I'm gonna have to save up and order it off the 'net like I did P4. Also playing Mirror's Edge, 'cause that tiny bit of the last chapter was calling me and, I've still gotta find loads of the bags.

For some reason I've been itching to start playing FFVIII over again because the last time I played was ages ago and I was on disc 3 but had no idea what happened in the game and what I was supposed to be doing (I've never finished this game!!!). The problem is, my first disc is apparently too badly scratched up, and it freezes right after the opening AMV. Oh well... ePSXe to the rescue! I'm surprised my clunker of a laptop can handle the program.

I like using ePSXe to replay old games I've beaten, because I can use the cheat function to just mess around and have fun with it. Of course, I kind of go against the spirit of cheating, since, at least in FF8, I was using it to spawn enemies for battles that should have been fairly one sided (and not in my favor, mind you) when I got bored turning the beach fish into water magic. My favorite thing about FF8 now was also one of my biggest complaints when I first got it. The systems are so easy to exploit. I remember playing it when it first came out, I didn't lose a single battle until late in the third disc. I remember taping a button down and doing an ab workout while Laguna stocked up on Curaga in Winhill. I remember enemies having the very spell they were weak against stocked right there and waiting for you to draw and use against them.

I haven't really played much of anything since my semi-recent game rental binge. I ordered a used copy of the first Condemned from Amazon yesterday, though, so that will probably be the next thing I play. I've been on a "moderately psychic agent chases a serial killer" kick lately.

Are the Condemned games any good? I've seen them both around here really cheap and it looks like it'd be pretty fun! I know Marcus I think said that Condemned 2 focuses more on MELEE COMBAT or something, but Iunno, if they're worth the 20-30 bucks, I'll pick 'em up.

Try the demos out first, if you can. The demo for the first one is pretty good. I downloaded it and tried it again before deciding to buy the game. The atmosphere is really good, and despite the fact that you have essentially a whole crack den worth of psychos trying to kill you and popping out from corners and doors at the most inopportune times, it seems like fun. It does suffer from the "conventional gaming" curse, things like needing a fire axe to break down a locked door when you're holding a shotgun. I have heard from some people that backtracking to collect a certain weapon/item that you need can get annoying, and that the combat can get repetitive over the course of the game. Still, I think the atmosphere will salvage it for me.

I also tried a demo of Condemned 2, and that one I'm not so sure about. Maybe if, after beating the first one, I decide I just have to have it, I will knuckle under and rent it or something. It seems like an improvement in some ways, but it also seems like they move the story from the "real" world to the local annex of Silent Hill. Maybe the story in the first one explains this, maybe the character is just that crazy by the second game that he sees all that...but fighting shadow/tar monsters on a roof felt a little off. There was also a section in the demo where I was losing health/being attacked somehow just by standing at the intersection of two hallways with nothing else around me. I think it also shifts more towards a more fps feel at the end, from what people have said about it.

I finally decided to put up with the Wii long enough to play Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People.  It's been sitting on there since it came out, but I just hate using the Wii's controls for any decent length of time.  But, I've decided it's worth it for now.

Yeah I know what you mean Killer Wolf, the story is crazy at times! I mean you get to see weird cutscenes! I won't ruin the story for you as I have already played. To be honest this is not the type of open ended game like GTA, you play this once and complete it then you won't feel the need to play it again! I should have spent my £10 on gears of war 1 instead though... mainly because of the multiplayer on gears of war is known to be good.

Condemned games aren't that bad Chris, I played the second all the way through, although pretty linear was an enjoyable experience overall. Very brutal and fun figuring out the clues and what not. Like Wolf said it has a couple of cheap scares and the atmosphere fits perfectly for what was achieved in the end.

I ALMOST beat the first one but I got stuck on one of the near ends fights. so I took a break... which was a bad idea because now If I tried again I'd suck because my skill has probably rusted and that I don't quite remember what was going on. but yeah excellent game. and while there are some cheap scares... some of the scares are actually kind of unique or at least not completely typical.

For the first time in a LONG time, I'm currently playing through Final Fantasy III US on my SNES console. I still love this game, great memories, memorable characters, awesome music...
