well, it is what it is. i haven't played any saints row game myself, but is it accurate to call them parodies? parodies generally mock whatever it is they're spoofing and have some kind of commentary to make about the matter. you could have all that over the top machismo bullshit and not be sexist if you had an interesting point to make about how stupid and ridiculous bro culture or whatever is.
I don't think so goin by a dev interview/trailer I saw, but it could easily be played that way going by vellfare's/other youtubers vids of it

Speaking of DF. Look at this new game
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwZdXRPeYrc

It's called Castle Story and I think it's trying to be like DF only in 3d and is also like MC.

The developers of saints row are all bros. There's no point to be made by it, and the guys are all saying how they wanted to make a game of consisting of 'what the fuck moments', and action film level badassness. It hides behond a pretense of parody much in the same way as family guy or south park, where as San Andreas and GTAIV had actual thought out characters and a strong sense of parody.
But I guess due to my obsession with customisation in games, it is something I can still enjoy

Hmm, I'm guessing you guys all bought it during the steam sale... I was actually torn between it and MW3. (sort of, it did not take me long to pick MW3, namely because buying it later would be meaningless, as most people would be playing the next COD and I'd have wasted 30-60 bucks and missed out on any multiplayer, as Black Ops players have clearly died down.)

I'm getting back into Dark Souls. My brother finally started playing it and he just managed to be Taurus Demon yesterday. He was pretty pumped because I could tell he almost going to give up. After a while Dark Souls just kind of "clicks" and you understand how to play it without dying so much. But yeah I've been running a new character around, helping people with bosses and shit. I'm rolling with like 7 humanity at the moment which isn't much but it's the most I've ever had.

Also Hero Bash make sure you use Dwarf Therapist, it makes managing your dwarfs like a million times easier. It's seriously a must-use program for DF.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

Yeah man I totally agree. I liked Demon's Souls a lot and I've been playing Dark Souls since day 1, but I went on hiatus for a bit because I had a bunch of other games I wanted to play. It's hard to get back into it, I guess.

But I was worried because for about 3 days he was stuck in the Burg (understandable). I could tell on the phone that he was rushing, not paying attention, not blocking or being aware enough, and he was reaching those rage-levels where someone just throws the controller down or possibly worse. But anyway he stuck with it and yesterday while I was at work he sent me a text that was like "I FUCKING DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Feels good man. Didn't even have to help him with the boss.

So now I'm literally pumped to play it. I'll probably play my new char with my bro for a while, then hop on my original character and finish up Sen's Fortress soon. I'm still kind of early in the game anyway. Haven't beat Sen's, only did Moonlight Butterfly in Darkroot, the Stray Demon, didn't get the Hydra in the Great Hollow (but I did get the other one, by Havel). So I still have quite a ways to go. So much fun though, I fucking LOVE THIS GAME!!

Also I love the sound in the game. There's something so mesmerizing about jogging around in the chain armors... like the Silver Knight's, it just makes the most satisfying sounds I've heard, I can't describe it. Pretty superb game.

My winamp randomed into some music stations from GTA2 which reminds me that the best GTA is still GTA 2. I hope they stop making it too dark and serious.

Dwarf Fortress :) If you never heard of it I greatly recommend getting it. (prepare to be overwhelmed with lots and lots of FUN)
I'm using Lazy Newb Pack, recommended for newbies since it's a pack with all great goodies like tilesets which makes the game a little bit prettier.

This is the series of tutorial that goe me started :

damn, you got really unlucky. this is why i always build my well reservoir early, because it's the first real risk of flooding my fortress. it's sad that you lost a cool embark site with loads of sand though

these are the kind of things that help you learn the game though

also turn cave-ins off in d_init.txt ;)

i don't have a chamber of death set up yet. otherwise my dungeon master would be kaput

mangled chest man update: he's gone stark raving mad and is crawling towards the nearest murky pool to throw himself in. luckily there's flooring over our water supply so he can't throw himself into the well

What do you plan on doing with him? How do you cure that. I just basically wall a dwarf that gets moody on me till he dies, I don't think it affects the happiness of others if he was killed that way.
