I always stopped at the coding part. always make different custom platformer graphics and stuff and have the setting and story worked out, but I can't code in gamemaker or flash for shit even with tutorials
Why wouldn't you team up with anyone then? Artists are always in high demand.
EDIT: Oh, I should also mention that part of the reason I think this site has gone a bit under the weather is because we haven't really been supporting any of the newer, more powerful makers. Newer versions of GameMaker provide significantly more flexibility than previous ones, and there is word of an entire rewrite for version 8 (??) I believe that should improve speeds considerably. There is also Construct on the rise, which imo we should look into adopting. Obviously this is a more complicated process than
*makes construct subforum* but I think it would open up a lot of avenues; firstly because we could essentially be there from the start (it is still in beta, although I have been playing around with it and am VERY impressed) and it is using Python as a scripting language which might peak interest in the more experienced programmers as well as the uninitiated seeking to learn something like scripting but being disinterested in investing time in a 'dead' language.
This would require a serious push to get the ball rolling. The community has very little momentum and that tends to feed on itself as we become increasingly more stagnant despite I think deep down a lot of us still really like making games!
