We're not 13 anymore and found better things to do than idle on a forum for 9 hours a day, like working/dating chicks/having lives.

A lot of people who were here were here because they didn't really have great social lives and this place helped us connect to people who shared our interests. As we've grown older, most of us have gotten significantly less awkward and more capable of forming actual bonds with, you know, people that aren't on the internet.

And perhaps most importantly, life just goes on sometimes. GW wasn't made to last forever.

Woah! Dude, you're so totally grown up!

(Nevermind that social communities still thrive on your demographic and that the "growing past it" thing does not explain why there aren't any new members taking over the discussion.)

dont mind Mori. he's just upset that he turned 21 but has been forced to post on message boards because all of his adult friends are busy working or taking care of their kids and don't have time to go out with him.

There needs to be more forums. With so little ones here, it won't give a sense of "power" and "huge diverse community" that attracts/appeals to newcomers!

People don't see those figures at first glance. Large amounts of forums are very obvious and stick out. It may work.

Also: upon my return I noticed a big gaping hole that makes me want to not spend all my time on the forums:

The lack of a CS/post 9/11. It's a place to talk about random shit like what people are listening to and whatever else. It provides something to do while waiting for more meaningful topics to pop up or replies to be posted. I probably don't understand why it's gone since I just returned. But that's just what I've noticed.

It's not going to kill the forum if we don't have a billion boards.

You're probably right. But it did used to look much more mighty and active back in the day. That's also probably because it WAS though.

If I killed it I would kind of think of myself as fucking amazing. Seeing as I killed the Jone too.

Most social communities aren't built around making amateur games. I don't know why you're trying to make me sound like an asshole there Dada!

Seriously it's as if people think GW is SA or something. This site was made for gamemaking, nobody here makes games anymore. Get over it, sorry if that offends the fact you're still here, but I am too so I don't know where you're really going with that.

but yeah nevermind logic im totally grown up

p.s. thanks ase  :fogetbackflip:

GW's selling point was never that it was a sanctuary for social rejects. It's always been and still is a valid hobby site like any other.

this runs on the assumption that gw is 100% about gamemaking btw, most of us that are still here because we like each other, not because we make games...basically you are just explaining why the gamemaking section of gw died not why gw as a whole did
