you guys are lame. yeah tim burton is not amazing and plenty of his films have been bad (wtf, alice in wonderland). obviously, the demographic that a film appeals to can be a good indicator of whether you'd like it or not (example: Twilight appeals to 12-year-old girls, not me). but that's not a foolproof rule-- stupid people can appreciate something good without understanding the deeper meanings and whatnot... someone can like Huckleberry Finn just because it uses the word "nigger" and not because it's a classic tale about race relations and the struggle for freedom in antebellum America.
there's been some good Burton movies and it's dumb to dismiss everything he makes as being unwatchable or something. Sweeney Todd is seriously awesome. man, the story is pretty great. i've seen it live, in person

maybe it's a good Tim Burton film because of the fact that it wasn't even written by him, being that it comes word-for-word from the original Stephen Sondheim musical. and the casting is no different than other Tim Burton films, but the actors fit best in this one. so saying that you don't like Sweeney Todd because it's a Tim Burton movie is dumb; the original script, music, and even atmosphere all come from the original production, which has always been highly-rated.
and yes i have seen Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and it's great.
