I dunno I feel that in more recent years its been guys that have been getting into cooking again.  Like my brother who just got married is the cook of the house and I've been working on learning how to cook myself.  I've seen this trend at college too, with guys being the ones who are able to make more of the fancier dishes and that sort of thing.

yeah, definitely.  i'm not at all ashamed to get in the kitchen and whip up a new and excellent dish.  i look at it as more of a science and an art than just a set of domestic skills once you start actively improving and pioneering.

Everytime I see this thread I think of the song "This is why I'm hott." The I start thinking about the remix: This is why we 'OOOOTTTTTT, THIS IS WHY WE 000OOO---OOO000TT" with that jamaican guy.

I cook a lot for my parents now.  They used to go through a lame weekly routine of hamburger helper, hamburgers, spaghetti, tacos, BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF BEEF.

jesus christ this is EXACTLY what my parents eat, except tacos aren't nearly as common as OTHER THINGS WITH HAMBURGER MEAT (if you replace tacos with soup that's their exact diet)

but to be fair they both work incredibly long hours and get home pretty late so when they come home i can kind of see why hamburger helper is a lot more appealing than something that takes a lot more effort to make

i'm not that great of a cook but i do cook for them occasionally (or if not i at least START the cooking so that when my mom gets home she has less work to do), and when my brother comes home for the summer (which he didn't this year) he cooks for them all the time.

I very rarely eat the same meals as my parents (unless it's breakfast, because breakfast food is g-e-w-d GEWWWD), I usually either just eat something simple or cook something for myself.  I don't really like hamburger meat so that cuts out most of their dinners right there.

Bad news guys, I didn't take a photograph because upon first glance, I concluded that the food looked decent, again lots of noodles stacked on, some spices, lettuce, some meat over it. Looked decent, and through my gift of a photographic eye, I could tell it would look good through a lens. I knew I would not enjoy it, but it would be decent. I didn't take a photograph.

So I ate the meat, it was okay. I ate the lettuce, but the noodles were fucking terrible. God, the spice was all wrong and it was all effed up that I just wanted to vomit and it did not taste good at all! I ended up eating everything except the noodles and left! Maybe I am noticing a trend here???

Tonight I had a sliced chicken sandwich for dinner and that was possibly my lunch as well and perhaps my breakfast if you disregard when I ate it. I tend to go from days of eating one meal to days where I eat five meals in a row and they are all big. It's not exactly healthy, but I think I get around the right number of calories per week (too bad it doesn't work like that!).

Man why don't you just MAKE FOOD. Don't tell anyone. Just MAKE FOOD at 4pm before anyone makes dinner and eat it. I am not a master chef but I know how to make enough edible things to keep myself alive/decently fed. There is no reason you can't also do this!

Yeah, my parents usually take the easy route in cooking anything, so I'm always glad to cook something different.  But then my dad's always like THIS WOULD BE PRETTY GOOD WITH SOME BEEF but that's just him.  I could never start a dish and just let them take over, I don't trust them with my food!
