Depends on whether he's still in college or not. I mean, what the hell do you need to 'save-money-for' if you're going to get a good job eventually anyways? The amount of money saved will be negligible compared the amount of money made later, and besides, he probably needs the money more now than he will in the future.

So unless you don't have health insurance (because saving the money would be pretty important then), spend it on whatever you want. HELP THE ECONOMY.

I'd buy loads of food, but that's just me.

Clearly, the timeshare thing was stupid, and no you're not a douche for bringing it up. Viable point, and the point's taken. However, I can't imagine what else he'd use the money for in the future. Now I wouldn't go out and buy videogames personally. I'd do something more constructive with the money -- for instance, I need some tools to work on a few projects I've been meaning to do (biquad dish antenna, lcd projector, nerd stuff galore). I'm just an opportunist, that's all. Sitting around with money in your pocket doesn't advance life any better than watching grass grow. Gotta live, even if just for a little bit. Everything must be within reason, though.
