uh well, if you want to find reasons to not like it, i suppose some people could dislike it because:
- it's linear as fuck, although it kind of has to be for the story and narrative to work so well.
- AI can be a bit dumb sometimes, enemies don't necessarily notice you very easily even though they should see you and they don't pay attention to sounds or dead bodies, basically uncharted 2 could have learned a bit from metal gear solid when it comes to this.
that's pretty much everything i can come up with actually. i can't see anyone who even remotely likes games actually disliking uncharted 2. it is one of the greatest games i have played and i agree with your friend that i'm sure many other developers are going to learn from it when it comes to pacing, narrative and blurring the line between games and movies.
oh yeah might as well add that even though the multiplayer is fucking awesome, it's too streamlined. what i mean is that you don't get complete freedom over what gamemodes and their variations (snipers only, rpg's only etc.) you get to play and there is no public servers list. if you team up with your friends in the lobby, the game will always automatically put you in the same team so it's a bit annoying if you don't have a lot of friends to play with and you want to actually play against them because you can't with uncharted 2's matchmaking system and lack of server list. you have to create your own game so that you can decide the teams yourself but that only works if you have enough players because the maps are pretty large. as for the gamemodes, if you want to play ranked matches you don't get to choose what gamemode you will play, the game will always randomize two maps for you and each of them will have randomized gamemode as well and the players will vote for the one they want to play, that's all the freedom you'll have when it comes to ranked matches. the game gives you a few different choices (deathmatch only, team-based matches only, ranked matches, co-op, co-op arena...) but i definitely wish they'd add a server list and give players more freedom to choose what they want to play. the upside is that at least there is variety in both maps and gamemodes when you play ranked matches so you won't get bored that easily.
