Fuck I've had ear problems most of my life.

Yesterday, I was swimming at the pool and my lil sis accidently slapped me in the ear and now I'm pretty sure I have a perforated ear drum. It's not bleeding or anything but I can't hear quite properly and there's a dull ringing. - http://www.bcm.edu/oto/jsolab/tm_me_mastoid/tympanicmembrane.htm

FUUCKKKKKKKK![/i] Anyone had anything similar?

A friend of my friend's brother has had to live with a constant ringing in his ear that, what I assume, started during his childhood.

I'm hoping for Swimmers Ear. Dude Swimmers Ear is the best. Your ear gets this crackly nasty shit in it and it hurts like hell, and you can't move your jaw and shit. And the medicine they give you for it makes more nasty crackly shit.

But yeah tinnitus is something I have too. Fun stuff.

If not, it'll probably go away after awhile.

By the by, does anyone ever have their hearing go out in one ear for seemingly no reason it all?
It kind of sounds like those lame effects for when you get flashbanged in one of those fps games.
Except it's less loud and in one ear.

I'm pretty sure the random, shot-lived hearing loss is common. Everyone I've known has had it happen to them from time to time. Also when I don't take my allergy pill I get really bad tinnitus.

uh, That 'eeeeeeeeee'? That's the sound of the ear cells dying, like their swan song. Once it's gone you'll never hear that frequency again. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Or it could be... you know... tinnitus. A ringing isn't necessarily caused by damage or 'ear cells dying.'

Wouldn't you be in like extreme pain though? I've heard stories of people perforating their eardrums and I've always kind of heard it to be something you just sort of KNOW. Always good to check anyway.

I have this and so does my mom.  Apparently mine isn't bad though because the rining only comes at random times not like my mom where she says hers is all the time.

I don't think tinnitus is something that can spontaneously appear, I think it's something that develops over time. If the problem persists you should definitely talk to a doctor, but I don't think you really need to worry about this at uh, 20 years old. Also, before you assume this is tinnitus, I'm pretty sure there are a few illnesses that are similar to but not the same as tinnitus.
