With the way S-E is talking about how it would take longer than FFXIII to render everything in FF7 to the same level they would be better off using the Crisis Core engine and making it a PSP game.  Or really screwing with people and making it a DS game. :P

Personally I'd wish Square Enix would make Chrono Break, or a sequel to Chrono Trigger / Cross (actual good games).

However, that will never happen. The vice president of Square Enix was quoted as saying

how has this not happened yet

the game's already been remade on the NES for crying out loud

Edit: can GW collectively do some sarcastic/loose remake of FF7. This would be a good project

also don't replay the game before working on it, just bullshit the whole thing from what that person remembers

Yeah, at this point, I desperately hope they NEVER remake FF7. It would take so gawdamn long if it was nextgen, and a majority of oldschool RPG crap would be dropped for anime jumping scenes. Leave it alone and move on. :D

Yea personally after I got the airship and started the Wutai sidequest, I decided to stop playing. But really the "feel" of the game was a bit gone after the Midgar thing.

yeah they got like seven pages of ecstatic praise for building the ff7 menu in rpg maker and then released some actual in-game footage a while ago which was mostly either ignored or mocked because the sprites didn't look good enough. live by the screenshot thread die by the screenshot thread~

ahaha i was actually thinking of this last night, i've never even played the game but i thought it would be funny to remake the entire thing based on recieved knowledge and then release it as FINAL FANTASY VII without comment. i decided not to because all the stuff i've heard is pretty boring anyway which would take the fun out of things.

I wouldn't mind a 3D FF7 remake, but what I would like is for FF15 to maybe go back to a classic approach, like what Sonic and Mega Man have been doing lately.

Or, how about both?

Everyone always says this.  Midgar is the most boring part of the whole game, save for maybe the ice mountain place.

*Edit*To BE honest, I never even finished FFVII- I became too frustrated when I got stuck during the Frog Forest subquest and gave up.
Frisky, if by Imagination" you mean the ability to project oneself onto a character  or to see them having further adventures, that definitely happens. In some ways some of the older "Silent Protagonists" were very flexible in that way. I'll admit that FFVI has a special place in my heart, not only because of its (For the time) sophisticated graphics and plot, but because some of the character's struggles mirrored my own, especially Terra's struggle to discover who she was and where she belonged. I also loved the style of graphics and how animated they were- I suppose that's why I prefer games where the characters have lots of personality and body language.  The most important thing, however, was that I found I considered the characters people. I felt I knew them and found I cared what happened to them. IMHO, that's one of the most important factors in the success of an RPG- the game's ability to touch the heart of the player and give them the feeling that they too are part of the fantastic journey- that their actions matter.

FFVII wasn't the masterpiece the fans claim it is but it wasn't underwhelming either; just plain whelming.

MEH

Fuck. Yeah.
