But you really think the most appropriate manner to express those feelings is by setting yourself up in the most obvious way possible? (You really chose the word "innocent"? Really?)

yeah i'm sure those office workers were guilty as fuck

Do you think it would be better if they were guilty before dying?

Do you think it would be funny if an airplane crashed into a maximum security prison and all the inmates died?

Why? People are dead, public property has been destroyed which will have to be rebuilt using public money, and he has damaged his cause in the eyes of everyone. It seems to me like its really tragic and antisocial act by a confused and isolated individual

Do you not feel the way he did sometimes? Have you ever? Yeah it's tragic, it's actually really sad that this guy was in such a place. And I am not unsympathetic in my response and I do not devalue his life or the life of the people who died in anyway. I'm just astounded that someone in his position actually did something like this. He was really struggling against the IRS, but reading his essay it seemed like the IRS was just microcosm of the US government. He could have done a lot more damage and killed ALOT more people if he wanted to, like someone said. He wasn't a stupid guy. So I see his action symbolically, as an act of communication to the US government in a way that he could not have without doing this. By using a plane he's making obvious references to 911 and making a very clear anti-Us statement. He said it himself that he spent ten years fruitlessly attempting to communicate with senators and other gov officials. He could have been deferred to different personnel for his entire life and never actually make a change. Not that this action will make a change but I think it has a lot of weight and certainly impact if we're all talking about it.

So to call him a fucking insane dude and write him off is terrible. I wish there was a way to do something with this much impact and not kill people, who individually do not deserve it, but... I guess that's what it takes. Kinda sad huh?

if you're killing yourself over something like this (gulp politics) then yeah, your mental health isn't in the best condition and your actions while in such a state aren't anything to congratulate

the guy tried to create a fake church as a tax shelter, the IRS caught on to his scheme, privileged white guy goes insane at the idea that the US constitution allows someone to take his money, he flies a plane into a building killing innocent people using inflated and vaguely-legitimate-sounding rhetoric that conveniently lines up with mass anti-government sentiment.

you're a fucking idiot and you need to reconsider why you think it is appropriate to kill people to make a largely inane and noncontributive political point that will be largely forgotten in the next three or four days. someone lost a loved one yesterday because this guy couldn't defraud on his taxes.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

it was a dumb and unpleasant act and he was probably a dumb and unpleasant person but i think it's kind of a bad idea to write off any complaint someone has with the tax system or the bailout as teabagger libertarian ayn rand garbage, especially when most of the stuff he talked about seemed to be not so much TAXES GRR so much as complaining about wall street and insurance companies being handjobbed by the government etc. i mean killing innocent people because you're angry that you were caught trying to defraud the tax system is obviously awful but i think its a little too easy and not too healthy to identify these issues entirely with the right wing!

it doesn't matter what his politics were, the reason the guy flew a plane into a building is because he was a selfish guy who held a deep seated hatred for the IRS because they wouldn't agree that what he did wasn't fraud. all the two-bit political points surrounding his descent into madness are fundamentally irrelevant window dressing. 'i actually think this is awesome' is almost repugnantly dumb

the best way to make a political point is to murder people only tangentially related to the issue *huffs glue*

:welp: it was obviously a repulsive thing to do and i wasn't trying to justify it politically or anything, but i think it's kind of dumb to automatically identify anyone complaining about the tax system as some ron paul rightwinger. i mean

maybe im missing something but yeah it looks like people saw someone complaining about taxes/bailout and immediately jumped to the conclusion of libertarian etc. it doesnt really matter whether he was or not or what his message(?) was i just think its a little dangerous to identify any criticism of these things exclusively with the right, which is what a bunch of people here seem to be doing.

while i don't appreciate being called a fucking idiot, i'm listening and willing to listen to you. but i think that you're so pissed off it's getting in the way of you hearing what i was saying in my second post. that its astounding that THIS guy is the one who has been driven to such extremity. you know? he's a plane owner! you'd expect him to be a big corporate supporter. so calling me a fucking idiot is warranted i should have done at least some research before saying i was glad he did this, because honestly i just finished reading his essay and agreed with most of his points.

that in and of itself is an astoundingly dumb statement because you read 'oh i agree with some of this' then concluded it was awesome he murdered people over a stupid political point.

it's not stupid but it's pretty damn far from being particularly insightful, at least enough to murder people over
