actually I do see myself going back to school at some point. or let's put it this way: I don't think I'll be a programmer all my life. I somehow just don't think I have the tenacity for that. I'm interested in too many other things.

any of you guys drop out of college and later decided to revert that decision?

I don't agree

I've never gone to college and I don't think that I will in the near future and I'm doing really good for someone my age and when I get my license I'll be doing even better. I'll be making as much as someone with a degree in the same field with no starting college debt.

In other words I be makin money to get time to take classes to be makin' even more money. Gonna retire when I hit fourty if it goes good.

not being able to get a job as a delivery driver is the only reason i ever wish I could drive. it would be good. you'd be on your own most of the time and you could listen to music, audiobooks, anything audio at all since it's your car.

i just got a job today flipping burgers. it's a stinker, but i am desperate for cash and it's only a temporary thing for a month with an option of two so i think i can hold out! i really don't like working alongside people, though. like i sometimes try to look at it in a positive way like maybe i'll meet my new best buddy in this unlikely place? but things don't work out like that. it sucks having people say horrible things, act like assholes or just kind of plain old not really get along with you cos you are such different people. pffrrrrrr...it'll be cool to be a student again in september.

yeah thats what I did for awhile at hungry howies and it was kind of fun I guess.

the pay sucked and my boss was a cunt and everything else about it was miserable but I stayed stoned most of the time and got to listen to some rad tunes while I drove around and just chilled most the time. Make sure you get a gps if you can get the extra cash, its really helpful and can help you get those deliveries in fast.

And yeah if you deliver quick and pick some orders close to where you deal you could charge a little extra and drop your product off while you're workin'. My last weed dude did it while he delivered and was pretty successful about it.

which country do you live in?

what I meant was that it's interesting how bric countries are set to undergo radical transitions in the coming decades that will impact western countries. the main reason why they're currently experiencing so much economic growth is because it's easier to exploit (mostly poor and unskilled) laborers there, but at the same time more and more people are gaining access to educational facilities. then there's the fact that cultural barriers, such as women joining the workforce, will make a big difference in the long run if they can be overcome.

right now it's mostly unskilled labor that's being exported to these countries, but that will change as they become more developed. which isn't good for westerners, since it means the level of education you need to have to be able to easily find work will rise.

ps given that this is a dietcoke help topic, maybe he can answer this question for me.

what on earth is going on in thailand right now? I'm getting conflicting information about the government crackdown on the red shirt movement. you've probably seen the debate on today's Democracy Now, and it's interesting how Philip Cunningham notes that the media that's being propagated by the movement seems to resemble fake grassroots while on the other hand people are fighting against an undemocratic election and are being shot in the streets. while both he and Ungpakorn agreed that the government has to immediately stop their use of violence, I'm in doubt as to what I should believe (though Cunningham's claim is one that's very hard for someone like me to verify, especially because I'm not familiar with the usual level of rhetoric in thailand).

the reason why I went and wrote this is because I just saw the most horrifying video (not going to link to it) of a red shirt getting shot by a sniper. it's absolutely crazy and it's difficult for me to get a grip on this.

the use of fake grassroots for a power struggle is not an impossible scenario by far, especially in a politically unstable country such as thailand, but it seems so absurd to me that such a large number of people are dying in the street for this.

it's basically an intra-bourgeoisie conflict over breaking up the coup-government and forming a regular liberal democratic government. I think Cunningham is really overdoing it with calling the red shirt movement fascist, that just strikes me as a pretty dishonest and lazy assessment. It's a genuine populist movement that is fighting for legitimate elections, however misguided in their support for some billionaire politician.

I'm currently studying architecture but for the most part of the day I'm an internet shut in (my classes take place during the night). I think I could architect things mechanically which is why I decided to study it but I don't like it how everyone else is idealistic and reads a lot of books on the subject and I don't really care about it. I don't care about le corbusier. I think people who spot the golden ratio in things are obsessive compulsive. I'll probably end up like my dad in a job I don't really like just for the money. I'm constantly apathetic and I never go to the parties people invite me to (I wish I could have fun doing that but it's too much of a chore).

I wish I could make movies, I envy you (jamie) and psyburn for that (but psyburn only cares about buying camera accessories so I don't envy him that much). I wish I could make decent music. I wish I could make proper games and get rich doing that. I wish I could make a proper comic book. I wish I had someone who liked me romantically.

I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just keep staying home all day long doing nothing but browsing the internet. I think I'll just end up dying before doing anything I actually want to do. But there is still hope.....

I thought you were married dietcoke

I feel pretty much the exact same way. There are some things that I want to do, that I know I'm more than capable of doing but I don't have the time to learn and act and when I finally get time I'm too fucking tired to do anything. I'm hoping I can change that but I don't know.

I am also a shut in most of the time but thats mostly because I fucking hate the people that live near me and certain kinds of people in general and if I do run into someone I like and would like to hang with they either live nowhere near me or have left.

I guess hate is a strong word but mostly I find that the folks left in my area are degenerates that make me sick to my fucking stomach.

the epitamy of the hedonistic and impulsive behavior you'd find commonplace in a goddamn dog. I mean fuck I thought I had a problem controlling myself at times but apparently not, maybe I'm just too closeted being cast out to sea all of the time but sometimes I feel like a fucking protestant when I go to a party at home.

Is that a copy pasted post?

Speaking of dogs and impulsiveness read about moscow metro dogs, I think the first time I heard of them was when lars travelled to russia and it's pretty amazing the way they invent their own societies
