anyone heard where's good in south america? i've heard it's pretty beautiful. argentina? brazil? don't speak spanish so i'll have to learn. i speak a little french but i dont want to go to fucking france. what does that leave me? south africa?
i'm willing to learn a new language to go somewhere i actually want to go.
in south africa they don't speak french!
if you are looking for a place in west africa, Accra in ghana is great and they have a few good unis. every country surrounding it speaks french and it's easy and fairly cheap to travel to them. plus in ghana learning some of the local languages won't be much trouble cause there are lots of people who are really willing to teach you if you're open. not to say they aren't hard because they are but my friends there made it easy to learn.
anywhere you go in west africa you should make a huge effort to learn the local language, kind of sucks to just rely on english or whatever colonial language.
regardless of your academic interests, i'd say study abroad is great unless you're just going to stay inside and watch american movies all day, which some students managed to do in ghana.
