yo i'm repurposing this thread for my own...purposes

when i was some age between 8 and 12( so between 12 and 8 years ago) i saw a tiny part of one episode of some anime on cartoon network that is luckily sci-fi and might not be gundam so Vellfire this could help both of us.

Basically, all I saw was two people (a guy and a girl) were trapped in what seemed to be a storage bay for a space station or space ship of some sort. They're starving, so the guy floats out into space, and stabs a giant space fish, hauls it back, they cook it. Then a door opens and the people of the spaceship/space station help them out of the storage bay. yay they are saved!

Does anyone know what amine this is? I want to know about the space fish!!!

That would be Robotech/Macross. It has transforming plane robots, sorry.

I hear Legend of the Galactic Heroes is supposed to be a pretty good pure sci-fi series. I haven't seen it though.

for general sci-fi anime I remember on the sci-fi channel a million years ago they had random animes and there was this Project A-ko movie and I dunno there was the first movie that was like a parody of superhero shit and a lot of animes and there was a second one that was like sci-fi space opera shit and might've been making fun of Dirty Pair I dunno. But it might've been edited for sci-fi channel and was actually porn. But there was some movie within the movie about an evil Colonel Sanders which was epic

also some other one called Venus Wars which was like obviously A WAR ON VENUS might've been all mecha I don't remember

there was also some movie about a high-tech hospital bed for old people which goes on a rampage (shit I guess that's sort of mecha too)

There are two anime series which I have just finished watching, One piece (Yes, all 457) and FMA brotherhood. At first I stuck to the subs made by Kaizoku-fansubs for OP but later switched to other fansubbers because they take way too long to sub a single episode. It starts out very childish but later gives a more darker feel in the Impel Down saga. The Whitebeard Saga currently in the making is probably going to be the best saga because a certain someone I would only recommend watching the series if you can put up with filler episodes (A lot of them).

Woah I remember seeing the exact same thing on the exact same channel now.  As soon as you said Project A-ko tons of images of giant red hair flooded my head.  Too bad that's about all I can remember (that....that hair.....)

I would of loved to see it as a full anime series but I'm stuck only watching the OVA of what it could of been.

Or a crappy drawn Manga witch I guess I could ignore images for the good story but I would be missing on excessive blood and gore + there a lot of volumes.

Edit:
You know what I think I should start reading it...but I Still wish it could of been an anime... got alot of reading too do... Sadly.

Took me about 6 to 7 day to read up to 97  of full metal alchemist. (mind you this wasn't non stop) so I can plan for it to take me about a month and a few days to get up too 506 chapter and too find out that's not all of it.. so I need to find another site for the rest. :(  I would Have about 5 more books to go since 506 ends it at book 35 out of 40.

3x3 eyes is just like project a-ko for me.  that is, it's something i distinctly remember watching but remember NOTHING ABOUT

like honestly if you asked me to tell you the plot of project a-ko all i could tell you is GIRL HAS LOTS OF RED HAIR.  if you ask me the plot of 3x3 eyes i can tell you I THINK A GIRL HAD A THIRD EYE ON HER FOREHEAD OR AM I JUST MAKING THIS UP BASED ON THE TITLE.  it's so weird how you can remember that you definitely saw something but not remember any details

Your right she has 3 eyes, has a split personalty and  she also totes around a WU. (Pretty much an Immortal but only for the fact that she has his soul) She is pretty much can live forever but can be killed. So for the most part the WU/Yakumo is suppose to protect her and help her to become human before she is used to destroy the world.

So I just finished watching Claymore and I thought it was pretty cool, but unlike a lot of animes I think it would of actually been worthy of a second arc. I'm trying to watch Soul Eater, the animation is pretty superb but I kind of hate everything else about it.

Most anime kind of suffers from inconsistent animation between episodes and shit. I couldn't really see this in Claymore and Soul Eater looks to be the same. Are there any other shows where they take the animation quality seriously?

Oddly enough I don't consider myself a huge anime fan, but I've watched a decent amount of anime. This is more due to the fact that I consume Media in all forms in massive amounts, in any format, from any country.

Some of the only animes I've finished: (There might be more that I just haven't thought of)

Death Note - Pretty good but terrible, awful, ending.

Samurai Champloo - Made by the Cowboy Bebop guy, really fucking good overall, but some individual episodes are a bit dull unless you've watched past episodes. Watch this one in order

Higurashi - One of the best. Story was excellent. It seemed really well made too. It, uh, Gets kind of gruesome though.

Hellsing (Non OVA one) - Meh. Ok I guess, I've heard the OVA is much better.

Ones I'd like to see that I haven't:
Cowboy Bebop

Ones my Friends have all nearly unanimously recommend:
Yu Yu Hakasho (spelling?)
One Piece
Soul Eater (Mainly for its action, not story)

Ones I've seen parts of:
DBZ
FLCL (Yeah, I know there are only 6 episodes, I just haven't gotten around to watching ok...)
Sailor Moon

Sort of following One Piece but I stopped at like episode 300 something. I'll probably get back around to watching the rest and catch up. It's a good anime mostly. It's got some meh parts though, and all the best parts were early on. but its still relatively consistent in quality and the characters are well developed.

I don't think I've watched an anime in a long while, like maybe a year or so... But I'm not actively avoid them. I just got other stuff on my priority list of media and entertainment.

I 100% agree with you on this. I got my mom hooked on it, too. I was over yesterday and we watched like ten more episodes of it. A lot of people seem to hate the dub on it but it doesn't bother me at all. I watched the second and third seasons subbed and don't really have a preference as far as casting goes (but some of the translations in the subs are really, really bad. fansubs  :welp:)

EDIT:
I've been watching a bit more anime lately, but pretty much only the ones that are on hulu. Demon Lord Dante is pretty good (although the animation isn't that great), but apparently it's just a more confusing Devilman (which I haven't seen).

If you haven't seen Now and Then, Here and Now, do yourself a favor and watch it.  It's only 13 episodes long and it's really good.

Other than that I've just been finding anime that's probably really terrible but is entertaining to me. I watched both seasons of Ah! My Goddess, for example.

Death Note was pretty cool, but Code Geass is just death note with mechs and a cooler story so code geass is cooler

Samurai Champloo is just awesome because of mugen, otehrwise f dat

Higurashi is boring

Hellsing OVA is better.

Cowboy bebop rocks i guess

FLCL is good the rest sucked you are bad at wathcing anime...
