For whoever is interested: just made a separate Twitter account specifically for English messages: http://twitter.com/michielsikma
It even has an American flag mug (because for some inexplicable reason I type in American English).

lots of awful posts last page. you know the ones I mean. that's what we need to recover from

let's talk about tusked deer again: isn't it kind of horrifying to people in the eastern states who only know white-tailed deer? and are they really that common overseas? I don't know why this isn't a bigger subject. people talk about every single animal in the world besides tusk deer and there are tons of them. I just showed my nephew a picture of a tusk deer and he made a face.

I think those are antlers but I could be wrong.

Quote
Tusks are unusually long teeth, usually but not always in pairs, that protrude well beyond the mouth of certain mammal species.[1] They are most commonly canines, as with warthogs, wild boar, and walruses, or, in the case of elephants and narwhals, elongated incisors.[2] Tusks are generally curved and tusky, though the narwhal's sole tusk is straight and has a helical structure. In the elephant, the tusks were originally second incisors.
makes no mention of deer: bullshit. or maybe this is all an elaborate e-hoax? here's a thread from 2005 where a taxidermist is making a "novelty mount" of a deer with tusks http://www.taxidermy.net/forums/DeerTaxiArticles/05/f/05C35D29B8.html

Doing "novelty" work has a way of taking you out of the realm of serious professional taxidermy and can haunt you for some time. Next it's the swamp boogers or the squirrels playing cards. I did a boar with an arrow in it nearly 30 years ago and the thing still haunts me. I found out early on that I needed to perfect the techniques relating to real life specimen instead of making up novelty pieces. Just MY OPINION, however.

Some deer, such as those on the island of Rùm,[3] do consume meat when it is available.[4]

When's the last time any of you were in a QUALITY Taxidermy shop where they had such nonsense? Call Mike Boyce or Marcus Zimmerman, or even Ken Walker and see how much he'd charge you to do something like that. And before ANY OF YOU start with, "Well, there's a market for it", I know there's a market for fuzzy dice, and Confederate flags, and #3 decals, but I'm not looking for that kind of business. Your business is based on your clientele and if you're satisfied with the crowd that enjoys having velvet paintings of Elvis, go for it. Those are the same people who only call to price check and look for $250 whitetails. They aren't available in my shop.
The people who like novelty taxidermy are the same people who like velvet paintings of Elvis are the same people who call him only to price check whitetail deer. This is a really good character.

It's good that he's getting pissed off and adopting class conflict rhetoric, he just needs to get over the whole american "middle class" fetishism and break on through to the other side! You're almost there Bernie, you can do it.

I thought "middle class" was just a slightly more socially acceptable word for "poor people"?
