it's past late and now early again and i've been up watching the news and stuff like charlie rose for the past several hours and it reminded me of a lot of things i'm interested in and started a train of thought that got me thinking about why i chose a politics degree and then dropped out of it and then entered an arts degree with film as my focus and i thought crap, i'm wasting my life in a shitty path about dumb movies? but then i started thinking about movies like jia zhang ke movies and i thought those aren't so dumb after all and hell these politicians and business guys are assholes anyway there's more to life than this crap and then i was kind of glad i chose this arts degree and i'm going to stick with it and slowly just do whatever it is with my life i end up doing

i should have gone to bed when i meant to but oh well. it's nice to feel like i kind of know what i'm doing. or anyway, that i don't but that's okay.

today I told one of the young malaysian or indonesian (theres three of them and ones from one place and the other two are from the other) that if he learned more english he wouldn't be so stupid (he does alot of dumb shit and not like language barrier dumb, genuinely dumb). They prepare both malaysian/indonesian meals and american food at mealtimes and he was eating a fried fish head (eyes and everything) and I told him that in the united states only cats eat fish heads and I asked him if he was a pussy.

One of my bosses nicknamed them because two of them had the same name "mahmeda" and the others name was "muhammed" he calls one of the mahmeda's "lim" and the other one was named "mack". Mack had to go home though because he was all fucked up and had some prior head trauma and would wake up in the middle of the night and not know where he was. So we got another one named usin and he looks up videos of animals fucking. Right now usin is sitting next to me looking up videos of "woman, sex, dog" on youtube. He calls muhammed "harry" because he's got alot of hair. Harry's got some thing where he gets really fucking close to you like a little kid and keeps staring at this other guy I work with like he's got a crush on him or something. I told the guy "mike" that he's prolly just like that cus of his culture but the big guys fucking freaked out about it (he's a homophobe and saw harry holding pinkies with another guy).

we keep fucking with harry telling him to go into our locker to go get tools and shit and then locking him in it. They're all really skiddish so we pull pranks on them all the time for instance one time when harry was putting a crate together someone pointed an airhose at his ass and turned it on and he jumped across the locker, it was pretty funny.

I know it sounds fucked up the way we mess with them and stuff but they do it to us too and its a way to get them to loosen up because when they first got here they were really nervous all the time.

Sometimes we act like we're arguing with them in broken english.

Mike will go through the galley line and talk to the people working in the kitchen and they'll start fucking with him and he'll walk by and start yelling "NO U BU-SHIT, DAT BU-SHIT" and harry has learned the work dumbass so he always calls mike a dumbass. Lim doesn't know any english and just laughs all the time.

well as long as your categorically gross behaviour is all in good fun i guess it's just another silly little part of life. i mean, it's not like it says anything about who you are as a person especially when taken in consideration with a host of other gross and terrible shit you've said over the years.

This place has gotten so boring. Its not fun anymore. Its not worth sitting here waiting for a conversation that is actually engaging or for someone to say something that is funny or entertaining because it hardly ever happens anymore. i think that Farren and his workmates are othering the immigrant coworkers and in turn sw is treating Farren as external, the preferred term being 'gross'. dunno what to make of it though. tbh i think most people here would think Farren's coworkers are 'gross' too (hi it's dog porn, sailors), which might mean distancing them more than Farren does. i think Marmot had something to say about this kind of stuff in the past too, but I forgot what it was. kind of hard to see anything here in a constructive light.

i don't count either farren or jamie as an alien presence intruding on the one_true_salt_harmony, they both seem like good guys and i hope they keep posting.
