I just went on RMN and saw that a game I made in 2007 has 1150 downloads and people still play it. How bizarre.

I remember putting my heart and soul into the graphics using a jarg copy of Macromedia Fireworks and proper getting excited over how you could have an alpha channel and 4x the number of pixels on screen.

Me and my friend watched Eurovision for the first time ever.  We watched it from the Eurovision website since nowhere that I could find in the US shows it (we aren't in it so of course not).  It was really fun but there was no reason that I Love Belarus wasn't the winning song (much less not even in the finals).

Sometimes I get a sense of just how much I could be doing already, and how much time I've wasted by assuming there isn't really anything worthwhile to do at a certain point in my life. Have just been looking up summer classes, programmes, etc, in Glasgow for while uni is off. Also looking at the kinds of work placements, jobs associated with the uni that are available. Some serious money, from my perspective. I'm in a weird position, looking in on this kind of stuff. I think I've got it in me to get myself to some kind of respectable position from where I am. It's exciting and daunting to realize that I already overlap into these kinds of worlds a little bit. People with money, I guess. Smart people, too. I haven't met many of them yet, and don't know anything in this intimately but heck I'm a uni student. I keep thinking that means nothing and I guess it will if I just drift on it and get a crappy degree. There is plenty for me to do, though.

for the last 5 years i've lived on less than 10k a year. working full time at near minimum wage would get me ~30k a year. if instead of going to uni i had gotten a job ANYWHERE i'd have over $100,000. even with the (proposed) greater income a masters degree will provide it'll be quite some time before i ever catch up to where i could've been. the whole time i SQUANDERED as well in terms of the 'college experience' so i need to catch up both on that AND cash AND i look like i'm over 30 anyway. two weeks to finish my thesis. life sucks.

the uni experience is pretty gr8 I find, I am 4 weeks away from finishing my degree and stepping into an unsure future, which i am kinda excited about to be honest. I am over £20k in debt and living off overdraft, but I have since starting, visited three countries (where before i had visited none), made some pretty great friends (where before i had none), hung out with some pretty big artists(and if you were a business orientated individual, you could say that i've made some important connections), learned so much, had many adventures etc, and now I am likely to be spending a few years living in another country (no idea what one yet, depends on where my friend gets accepted for her master's degree) blah blah

i just try not to let money get in the way of things, my family is dirt poor, and i have no support in place for what happens if i fuck up again, but I'm cool with it.

yep, i think uni is great. this is my second try at it and i'm not putting nearly enough effort in but there are so many upsides to being a student i couldn't imagine not doing this through to the end this time. i can go live in a different country for a full year next year, and in the meantime i'm getting loans and grants to just do what i'd probably pay to do anyway. minimum wage jobs fucking suck, uni is cool. i want to do something worthwhile after i'm done, too.
