Again, the only person I've ever heard pronounce it with two syllables is Joey from friends. I guess it's similar to the people who call Florence "Firenze" or something? You're from Birmingham too - you're telling me that you hear people there pronounce it with two syllables? (as Porsh-a?) I am amazed if so.

They're totally different. Hence the extra letters to show stress in the pronunciation. Sound them out, it's pretty easy. Notice the shortness of some sounds (represented by less elongated letter clusters) than the others, coupled with the difference separations of the letter clusters to show stress.
