yeah mat, the only weight I've been able to gain is in muscle
i think that people are fat mostly because of poor diet.
nutrition is probably the one thing where public opinion differs most from fact. i think that people should start eating according to the paleolithic diet-- high protein, high fat, low carb, no sugar, no grains (man, grain is sooo bad for you; it totally messes up body chemistry). it's amazing what a difference this sort of diet makes to health; it eliminates all diseases of society, like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cavities, etc... you know, i'm writing a research paper about this for school because i think it's all very interesting. everyone should read about it.
nutrition is so important but so many people don't care about it at all. the people who DO care usually don't actually know anything they're talking about-- dieters restrict calories and avoid fat, destroying their bodies. but they think they're healthy just because they're losing weight. many people have no idea how to monitor their fat percentage or their body functioning.
personally, i have been underweight for most of my life (because of eating disorders). the past couple years i have fluctuated in the normal range, and i was slightly overweight for a little bit. nowadays i'm in the normal range, losing weight because i'm working on switching over to the paleolithic diet (and because i have a better psychological perception of food).
it feels so good to be getting healthy. even though i simply don't have time for exercise, i can improve my health by learning about nutrition. i think everyone should try to be well-informed about this stuff.
anyways, that's what makes people fat.
thanks for posting this. it's a great example of how people care way too much about food and nutrition. paleolithic diet?? humans didn't even exist until the upper paleolithic right
idk how this even sounds like a good idea to you or doc. how many years ago was that? isn't that enough time for evolution to bring about a resistance these abstract "bad things" you mentioned, similar to our resistance to alcohol? how comes it was the human race that changed its diet and became the dominant species, and not the other hominids who remained hunter-gatherers? and how long did these god-like hominids (reeks of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_Man) live, anyway? is their diet really something we want to emulate
look how you've selected this one aspect of paleolithic life that absolutely must be emulated, but everything else is apparently give or take. they were called
hunter-gatherers for a reason, they had to actively hunt and gather their food to stay alive. their whole day was spent stalking prey, hunting, traveling on foot. you mention "knowing how to monitor their fat percentage". you think paleolithic people knew anything about that? no, they just needed the high fat content in order to store energy in their bodies: they could go days without meat, or any food at all. yet you propose eating like they did for every meal, even though you don't have time for exercise (bull btw, apparently you have time for animes. if you really don't have time, quit some extracurriculars or drop some worthless AP courses. protein is for muscles and exercise is part of being a living human, much more so than some garbage
diet)
really I think stuff like this paints a pretty neat picture of our society. we're always looking some secret that will make our lives easier. that's dumb. if life's a butt it's because we've made it that way, all the stress and obligations and superfluous garbage we have to put up with just to live. it's all market-driven
oh yeah I wanted to make a point about how worrying so much about diet is unhealthy too w/e
