I am in love with the fact that there are coins to collect but no apparent utility in collecting them. the severed head of sideshow bob hovering back and forth on a horizontal axis representing "enemy", and apropos of nothing except the precedence of megaman/sonic/etc, there are spikes representing "trap" or "danger" placed about with no apparent consideration to either gameplay or common sense. I guess this kinda thing isn't unique, it's basically omnipresent in every shovelware platformer produced. it's like they think if enough Vidcon Signifiers and pop culture detritus are jammed together then that magical sensation of fun and engagement will manifest itself
but no matter how they try to ape the features and rituals of the media with which they are obsessed (or, want to imitate the commercial success of), the cargo will never be coming for their thatch airfields
