the middle one looks like a bad-ass screenshot from a arcade beat-em up game, like jojo's bizarre adventure
notice the caption in upper right corner:

what i always liked in the megaman bosses at times is the somehowly weird depressive colouring? it's hard to explain. i bet that dragon and three blocks you see when you die and exit the world, you have to shoot it three times before the whole world disappears ceremously with a flicker. just replace That Ending Fight in FF7 with that Megaman dragon fight, please.
you bet they went for the childlike + simplistic design etc. for it's time (the post-astro boy anime), but the way NES handles the colours and the colour pallette somehow makes it kinda bleached out/nostalgic/"finalistic" and "blue" (yes, that blues/jazz word lol).
i mean look at the dragons. both are against the black backdrop so it's not just that, there's some kind of poetic fatalism in the left one. i bet no one gets it, but whatever, i'd put that dragon in the left into golden frames and put it on a empty wall!!!!!!!! sue me, fuckers!!!!!!!!! i'm going to burn some incence in front the piccie now...
also nooo don't even try bringing up That Holy Rainbow Islands C64 Intro Screen, it doesn't work. this does something very specific, it's just nearly there but not 100% there to the effect.
I bet chillwave or simpsonwave people would just take the picture and put it through vhs filter and call it a day lol. actually i think somehow the opposite would be oddly enough be the right directions, somehow? but yes, you can't just put some graph filter on it either, this is millimeter work!!! *sweeps all perchants to floor, knocks down couple of statues, throws a fit, kicks out everyone from atelier* FILTH!!!!
EDIT: Tho i don't have that much antipathos 2 these scenesters, so relax earlzip et all... just using them as an example of shortcut to esthetics -filters not kinda capturing the fine details properly
tho i bet the dragon in right somehow would be the nes equilevant of aphex twin album cover art. dunno why, don't look me so beggin' ragnar aaaaa i dunno whyyyy
EDIT: i accidentally saw just now, i somehow mixed up the sprites of that green giant in the first picture, realized it would make perfect dancing gif hell yeahhhhhh. loving how he's swinging fist above his head while dancing.

why thank YOU, Fabio- WAIT A MINUTE
