there's probably a way we can at very least keep our inventories, unless they're hidden in the same file(s) as the map.
if not, a few items could be /given out at the beginning to compensate for the tediousness associated with beginning anew and harvesting trees by hand for that first craft table and going through wooden picks etc. depending one what people are up for.
Alright, well if we do go forward with the new map under the assumption that our personal inventories are linked to the server rather than the map itself, then once we know for sure we are starting a new map I'd like a little prior notice before the switch so that we can have time to properly prepare for it.
It's not working with low level tools I'm concerned with, it's more the hours of ore digging that I spent going entirely up in smoke because of having to start from square one. (I'm the kind of player who refuses to give up working with stone tools because of how much I overvalue iron and such, but if I know if I'm entering a new map with more iron available to me than what the map itself spawns with, I'd probably just make my tools iron to start out on with anyways. Although it's still true that the less iron I waste on tools, the more I can waste on making even more railroad/redstone material. *it's even more confounding now that you need to burn through stuff as scarce as iron in order to properly hoard cloth and shrubbery, regardless of how high the return is before your two pieces of iron are completely burned up*)
