You could have an option in the menu for walk speed. If you need someone to test the game shoot me an email at [email protected] when you're ready.

I could have an option in the menu for it. I will not.

Thought I'd post another WIP so people can, well, see a work in progress. :) Midgar is taking me quite a while because its difficult to get it to look geometrically correct with the right depth. I'd say the outline is maybe 40-50% complete at the moment - need to do the Mako Reactors, the scaffolding around the city, the buildings and add a few more details to Shinra HQ.

*after many years of never looking in the game design forum*
Oh wow I gotta say this looks crazy good. Wish I liked FF7 though :P. Let me know when you are finished and working on a new project, I'd like to see what you can come up with outside of FF7 stuff. :)

Cool demo. I remember seeing screenshots for this ages ago, and its nice to see it pretty playable. really impressive stuff. i like how you pulled off the text system. little touches really help the authenticity. inspired to create an account again.

not to derail, but do you have a patched (or copy of the patch) for the pic pointer patch rpgrt? i've been scouring the web for ages, but it looks like cherry's site is down and everyone is hot linking to it.

HOly mother of god. This is the best piece of work i've seen since Barkley. Encountered a bug though. After i got to the end of the demo i decided to play around some more encounters, and after changing the config to fast battle and fast world text, i entered a fight but the timer got stuck on Wait mode and wouldnt start counting. The music was still going so its not a crash we just all got stuck. I believe the animations stopped too (not 100% sure about that).

Otherwise, looking forward to trying 2D Final Fantasy VII. Marvelous

This is fucking awesome. But uh,

Is this where the demo ends? Because I can't get past this point. I restarted the demo in case I broke something but it still doesn't seem to work.

Either way, this is incredibly impressive. Your attention to detail is fantastic. As an unapologetic FF7 fanboy, I think this project is amazing.

Wow, just wow, I've never smiled so much playing a game before, I've been in the RM2K(3) scene since just before RMXP came out and I've got to say this is the most impressive thing I've ever seen in the scene, I would love to help you out, I know how to make custom battle systems and custom menu systems . . but im guessing you don't need help with that, but I can also sprite things if you need any help with that, also want to say that I just checked this site off a whim for the first time in about 3-4 years and because of this im now going to get back into it. I was wondering though, is this going to be a word for word remake? because with your skills you could make a wholly original game (using the FF7 system of course). Thanks for this and continue the hard work, I remember playing the demo you made a few years ago, it was just a menu system then, good luck :)

@deithe: I'm glad you liked it! And yep, word for word remake.

@rvp12Bet: The PAL release of FF7 had it changed to Aeris, but yeah I'm aware that other regions (ie US) had Aerith. I think it'd bug people no matter one which I set it to so when she comes into play I'll be adding a toggle in the config menu for Aeris/Aerith.

Why not do it like in FF6, where you have a character naming screen that uses the original names as the default option, but also lets the user change the character names into whatever they want/prefer?

Not only does it solve the Aeris/Aerith dillema rather elegantly, but it also lets you make something that already exists in a way nobody has seen before. (Actually, I just want you to do it just so I can find out if adding a feature that isn't in the original would lead to die-hard fans complaining about a feature of your game not being in the original game you based this off of.)

@EvilDemonCreature: Ideally I'd love to have the ability to rename characters (FF7 had that feature), but I had to scrap it because I'm not using any default systems, and in my custom systems, even though I've hacked the piture limit to 126 pictures, I don't have enough spare pictures to show 3*10ish letters for custom names. Ultimately it came down to unimportant when compared to the impact it'd have on the menu and battle system, so I dropped it. Allowing an Aeris/Aerith toggle is the best I can do in this case.

I've been really busy lately (I work full time and try to have a social life), but I can tell you I am actively working on it!

IDK how you do it. Though I have a headache right now so that might be why I can't grasp it.
