Avenging Spirit is a platformer where you can possess anyone and then use their abilities. It's a port of an arcade game of the same name and it's the only home version of that game. Pretty good stuff.

Shantae is another good game. Also a platformer but has you going through dungeons and stuff. Sort of reminds me of the Zelda games, but at a side view.

ahahha my god ragnar. i'm glad i didn't find that out as a kid or there'd be another crack/dissonance in my reality to be afraid of (wait, where is the black space after the door from Mario 64? maybe you should try steering/try finding a glitch RIGHT behind the door if you can uh find the black space or get in or something. it's worth there. i think i got there (in mario 64), well at least i shot myself thru the princess glass icon with the cannon painstakingly). you can walk back OUT (my mind exploded) but when you walk back in, you transit inside the castle...!

in real life, rami carefully slowly looks at the sun ... nothing happens, eyes water and after-image. :( maybe close to death or something idk.

also was that a diss earl... also i forgot to tell you about your trailer uh i can't find the link but how/why did you make that repeating disco-square or whatever patterns at the end of your trailer... why?!? i uh can uh never mind but honestly earl you are propably suspicious of this stuff but this is my childhood ne. okay? ninja jajamaru-kun on nes glitching from the start (remember my post in the most rare game you have) and so forth. i would had propably loved/being equally mystified by that disco square pattern. i think it's good. i don't know if it means anything to you aaand i don't know what's the purpose of squares but i'd be ready to call that... art. *gulp*

i need to see your trailer again!! thanks for the skelly back then.

sometimes i worry about this stuff, getting lost in my headache/pressure in my brain-behind eye area for good. i don't think it's uh actual pressure behind eyes though, that is a serious condition.

I can't respond now but it wasn't a diss, I was agreeing with ragnar. I didn't think anyone else found that stuff depressing/mind-fogging

you're supposed to be mystified by the ruby of unknown significance that the skeleton happily presents you after telling you a bunch of stuff in an alien language. the video was a failure. I named a lot of stuff "dead dogs" but then I realized I was copying thecats with that (the game title and subtitle were going to be random with some appearing less frequently than others, and two infrequent ones were "the mystery of dead dogs" and "the misery of dead dogs". dogs are great though. I'm still going to have music/ambient noises with lots of dog barks like I was going to do for the game I wanted ragnar and fuckass to make music for. I'm developing a theory about the effect of dog barks on brain chemistry.

!!! *in an handsome pierce brosnan voice* what do you know about... cabrit sans cor?
anyways looks like great minds think alike/there's some great mystery behind dog voices we may need to speak of. not really but i approve all these dog fixations... idk i get kicks/hella enjoyed uh onomatopoetically of dogs like uh describing something (a sudden old lady) as killer dog, murder dog, wanton dog... AAA DEATH FROM ABOVE, GULP!!!! GULP DEATH FROM ABOVE (not the band just this sudden anxiety getting out of sudden anxious situations) life doesn't have to make sense and i have no intentions of explaining myself. aaa i've filled this post AGAIN with rubbish. POINT IS that i enjoyed & agreed with your post. i uh think the skeletal scene was really good with colours, mark rothko's gravestone forms a smiley and ragnar falls into submission. and yes the disco rubies were really good. i uh think i mean i was planning to do something with dog voices but i think dog voices are good in overal and i don't really know why so if you figure something out/make good music out of it then please do tell me, i'm interested.
as long as we are on the same page... or at least same frequency... WAVE... okay as long as we see other surfing elsewhere and we can smile & wave at each other then it's all good. i'm satisfied with this imaginery and level of connection, never have unrealistic expectations...

no, that screen shot reads like dialogue from an old terrible tv show full of mental disorders and chronic depression. that's not how bonzy posts (oyyyy) read at all.

I'm not happy with it but here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0yNIwFum6s

one song I want/started to make myself uses a dog bark as a snare and a heavy thud for a bass drum. so it's thud BARK thud BARK thud BARK with some black and empty melody. in the other songs I just wanted to occasionally use dog barks for flavor. the whole theme is bright mcdonalds-esque colors suspended in blackness.

just wanna say I love how such and such described the aesthetic progression of the Mario Land series, how the blockiness crowd slowly gained influence and such. I do love the whole forced art style of videogames though, where they try to fit the desired graphics in a square shape while still maintaining the illusion that the sprite has more freedom to move beyond the boundaries of its box

The 3DS store doesn't have many gameboy games yet but I grabbed Mario Picross because I love those puzzles a lot and have finished off all the picross games I have on my iPhone.  It's really good, if you're into puzzle games or picross games then definitely play it.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Picross. There's something oddly satisfying about being all "Oh shit, look, it's a pineapple".

That + King of the Hill = many a day in my life wasted hehehe.

also Deja Vu for NES at least was depressing as fuck - wander through faded yellow Chinese food menu picture world - old timey 20's -50's was actually in these colors and causes instant clinical depression
wow exactly. combine this with the speech patterns implying gender roles/trappings of 50s society present in awful old movies and shows that no one should remember, it's enough to kill you
bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit

I just torrented a folder of over 500 various Gameboy games.

Someone wish me luck and bid me farewell before I dive off into the land of the strange, the mysterious, the land of Gameboy.

On that note, I also torrented a lot of Commodore 64 games and since im sorta slow, Im having a little bit of trouble configuring the control scheme. Apparently, the keys on the keyboard correspond to the ones on the C64 keyboard, so what would be the best way to configure the most useful keys for gameplay to a controller..More thinking is in order here...Orr maybe im just too lazy to sit down and work it out, maybe later unless someone with experience can offer suggestions.

Assuming you're using VICE, you can set up the gamepad controls somewhere in the settings.  Most games let you use a joystick, which has 8 directions and a single button, I'm pretty sure VICE will let you bind these to whatever you want (haven't used it in a while though) so you don't need to worry about using keyboard controls in a lot of games.  Also I think VICE will let you choose to make the keyboard correlate to your computer's keyboard, which is absurdly helpful if you don't know how the C64 keyboard is laid out.

definitely ketchup and mustard!! here's something I wrote about it but never posted:
Quote
it's destructive sci-fi waste set in the ketchup and mustard galaxy of the dumpster mythos. like if you can imagine a dumpster full of large brown and black plastic trash bags filled with ketchup, mustard, mayo, shredded lettuce and waste paper and some bags splitting open and oozing out and you're in there slopping around in squalor and you're soaked in waste.
not necessarily primary colors though, just colors with a sort of sickening combination of brightness and saturation and sort of like old msx or spectrum games.

we don't use custard on our food here in the states. but that looks really good, I like the machinery silhouettes and the custard kid's limp discolored arm resting on the custard crate. definitely the zx spectrum look (this is also a great inference in the states)

Thanks for the response. Im not using VICE though, but CCS64 has similar input methods, and I simply chose the joystick which uses a certain keyset on my keyboard that I defined. I have found that most games support this keyset that corresponds to joystick controls, but some require what seems like an arbitrary key to be tapped to progress past the title screen and into the actual game.

Also, the Commodore 64 has a very bizarre library of games, including a game called Ducks Ahoy! where youre in this pixelated replica of Venice, navigating an empty gondola around a canal to catch these clumsy ducks and transport them to safety or something, all while avoiding this pink hippo which is partially submerged underwater wholl pop up and chuckle if you happen to capsize your little gondola. Ive only grazed the surface so far and there is tons of totally random titles out there to be played.
