Well I did find your response interesting, but I do not want to press the matter while you are in a less than 100% capable of concentrating state of mind.

In that by saying Nikola Tesla is both a geek and the greatest person who ever lived, but also saying that it is possible for the greatest person who ever lived to not be a geek, (albeit not very likely) so is this in the hypothetical situation where Nikola Tesla is not a person who has ever existed? Or is it the situation where a person who does not exist yet turns out to be the only person greater than Nikola Tesla without also being a geek? (as for me, in either case I would consider both the second greatest person who has ever lived to be a geek, and the only person capable of being greater than Nikola Tesla also having to be a huge geek)

This discussion is making me want to come up with a spoof of those "Most Interesting Man in the World" commercials, but making them about Nikola Tesla instead.

But if I did, it would be to find out what I would do in the case in which I drink beer, so I could write down an account of what happens. That way, I could tell you about that experience at a date prior to that one time that I decided to drink beer."

*just set up mu computer in my room instead of my office so I could have privacy when watching porn; unfortunately the walls seem to slow down the wireless some so I may need to move things around.
And now I want to go driink some beer.*

The only thing I disagree with is the title, Nikola Tesla wasn't the greatest GEEK that ever lived. HE WAS THE GREATEST PERSON TO EVER LIVE.

weird, I was recently thinking about why tesla isn't in the public conciousness

I'm on morphine and it's fantastic. This is the first day in two weeks that I haven't been moaning and writhing in pain from early morning till midday.

I haven't talked about it a lot on here but what started out as an apparent case of the flu turned out to be Guillain-Barré, which is a nerve infection. And it took a while for that diagnosis to be made. So for a while I was maxed out on paracetamol and ibuprofen (standard off-the-shelve pain killers). But they barely take the edge off when you have major, constant muscle pain. Usually around midday the pain would subside enough to allow me to do stuff.

Ultimately I went to my doctor and did a few more tests which led to a referral to a neurologist (failed the finger-to-nose test and couldn't keep my balance while walking). Yesterday I did a rather painful test that involved electric shocks, leading to the tentative (unconfirmed, but all signs point to it) conclusion that I have this disease. So now I'm on two different kinds of pain killers and finally I feel good again for the first time in quite a while.

The symptoms should eventually disappear by themselves, and I probably won't need to be hospitalized. So I got lucky in that regard. There might be some lasting damage, although they think it's unlikely.

aaaa shiiit!!! i'm reading about it now, a molecular mimicry autoimmune disease on nerves to put it crudely. why didn't ya tell me earlier?!? GROANNN!!!!! GGRRUNNTT!! sweeps computer off the table, slams dumb topic into wall, throws horrified ragnar to the ground, dicko gulps *loudly* and tries to restrain bonzi but alas!! dicko's fishing lines aren't enough to restrain the enraged orangutan!! earl leaps onto bonzi while the ape is hanging dicko by leg and banging dicko's delicate indie-bangs into the ground repeatedly + dicko is shrieking like a girl constantly, earl swears under his breath of his lack of practise in Tumbling, a profiency in two weapon fighting sure would come handy now by cormyr etc

hopefully u won't roll a bad dice dada... and i would imagine that even if you get more major nerve damage, you could start taking some amino acids and supplements for nerve regeneration. though i'd probably search the 'net first and ask all kinds of neurologists & neuro-naturopaths first about their opinions/knowledge on those. i've seen some recs (specifically for nerve damage) in the net before though so that information definitely exists.

also take painkillers after eating and with lot of water. that stuff is fucking nasty to your inner organs. you can't adminstrate cortisol to this nerve infection? (though yeah that stuff is nasty too if you aren't careful but still)

fucking shit

i've noticed that you had been complaining about general illness almost continuously for the last couple weeks, your mentioning it often enough that i started to worry it was something more along the lines of a condition. i really dislike being right all the goddamn time. i don't want to throw any negative energy your way at the moment by possibly unnecessary worrying, so i'll just say that it sounds like a truly excellent sign that they probably aren't going to need to hospitalize you, and didn't feel the need to do so immediately. this condition sounds scary when you first read about it, but from what i'm able to gather they more use the term to cover a pretty wide range of similar conditions that range rather wildly in severity. i'm pulling for you, buddy :)

You're a strong willed dude, and you can deal with this shit. If you can deal with inri, you can deal with any pains!

it's really bad when you get put on real painkillers, when I had muscle damage after and during Pleurisy last year, it hurt to breathe (collapsed on way to work, spent days lying in bed, felt like i was gunna die every time I laughed (which is a shame as I love comedy)) and was put on painkillers, but stuff like temazipam and tramadol have little effect on me, though I still take the later daily.

Agh it seems like everyone here has gone/is going through some sort of terrible medical problem.

The scariest medical problem I've ever had is just a tie between having a really bad case of the flu for 2 weeks (lots of vomiting and weight loss) and 2 minor facial epileptic seizures that I was conscious for and found more annoying than scary at the time (I was a dumb kid, didn't realize what was going on)

I've pretty god damn lucky I guess. It seems like my medical conditions pale in comparison to everyone else.

your posts always make me feel better with no exception.

there's a POSSIBILITY of nerve damage but it's deemed unlikely in my case. yeah, it's fortunately pretty mild in my case. some people end up in the ICU, it can even be deadly in rare cases. The disease itself is pretty rare, about 1 in 100,000 in the Netherlands.

most people end up recovering completely without lasting damage, so hopefully in a month or so I'll be completely back to normal. For now I can at least function, thanks to these painkillers (tramadol and lyrica/pregabaline). It's still hard to type because my fingers feel half numb. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to start working again.

i don't want to throw any negative energy your way at the moment by possibly unnecessary worrying, so i'll just say that it sounds like a truly excellent sign that they probably aren't going to need to hospitalize you, and didn't feel the need to do so immediately.
haha, well, don't worry about it. apparently I'm pretty good at not worrying about myself. and yeah, I will need to be hospitalized and given medicine by IV if it gets worse, but it doesn't seem like it's getting worse at the moment. I just need to keep my hands and feet in check to make sure the numbness/paralysis doesn't get worse.

this whole ordeal has been pretty awful, and the confirmation test was practically torture, but it's nice to finally be able to see a horizon and know it's going to get better. thanks to all of you for rooting for me.

this is the second day I'm taking tramadol (75mg) and all I wanted to do for a while was lie on the couch and enjoy vivid daydreams. thankfully I don't seem to be having any side effects, except for being extremely tranquil.

It is! There's a chance that things can get worse or that I'll have lasting nerve damage. But I try not to worry about things I can't affect.

Outside of that:

Recently I've been going through all the random old books around my families house and posting them up online for sale (amazon) but I recently ran into one that is first in a series and doesn't have a posting, but it's sequel does and its going for 40-45 dollars used with only 2 listings. However looking it up there doesn't seem to be any virtual copies anywhere which makes me question the ethics of selling it to someone that wont make a virtual copy but I'm in this to make money so I can't SPEND any just to make sure this book doesn't 'disappear' into the ages.

Anybody know where I can send it in to be saved virtually? is there nothing that can be done? Am I worrying for nothing and should just sell it?
