I really hate tabloid language. I don't know why but when they do that thing reducing every sentence to its briefest and most blunt possible form; 'drug cheat exposed' 'fraud boss fired' etc. I dunno, makes me feel shitty. I guess it's turning some negative action into a noun, then another noun to define them even more narrowly, then something being done to them. The punitive, manipulative language...well I guess I'm saying tabloids annoy me okay.

I just wanted to mention that I'd been going to this website for nearly half my life now. I also passed my decade mark awhile back.

I want my kids to know I spent over a decade of my life, and probably much more to come yet, at an amateur gamemaking website. I've been going to this site as long as I've had any independence in my life.

And then consider that BBC is actually one of the better ones by comparative standards.
Al Jazeera is interesting, you should take a look at that. Not perfect either but better than Western mainstream sources by miles.

Yeah, I go to a whole bunch of different news sites. Well, I kind of rotate them. nytimes, democracy now, sydney morning herald, the Real News Network (this one i'm not so sure about not being a nut site but they have interesting interviews), bbc - just cos, and cnn for the same reason. and when i'm at home i sometimes buy the guardian. i've always watched al jazeera's tv station, dunno why it hasn't occurred to me to visit the site.

also i'm not saying any of those sites are the best or anything but they are the ones i've picked up into my browsing rotation just to get a sense of what is going on - and badly made news is something i like to know about, too. bbc seems to be the worst of them all though; they write short, uninformative and patronising crap, often times about absolutely nothing at all.

this will be interesting to see BUT I really think kricfalusi's new Ren and Stimpy cartoons that he made after he got the rights back were awful. It was great when he was pushing the limits of what's acceptable for a children's cartoon, but now that the sky is the limit it's just not funny to see extremely overt metaphors for gay sex. The animation was still fantastic of course but I didn't think the concepts were particularly good.

My mom has been getting into Facebook arguments/discussions about the Chik-Fil-A uproar.

One of the the few times I 99% I agree with her. She says its dumb to cease eating somewhere because their CEO (or whatever he is) is a fuckwad. (though she does seem to think that while she thinks he's wrong about gay marraige, I don't think she thinks he's a fuckwad, I sort of do)

Buying-en-masse (dumb religious people in this case), not buying food (just dumb people) for political reasons is very very dumb. The guy running Chik-fil-a might be an religious ignorant ass, but hell can his company make good chicken and I'm eating that chicken.

I should also point out that if McDonalds suddenly started telling the world that they supported legalizing gay marriage I still wouldn't eat that shit.

I'm disappointed in my dad though. He rarely ate at Chik-Fil-A. Suddenly this shit comes up and he goes out of his way to order a 6 piece chicken. -_-

I mean if you are going to buy food you think is so-so for stupid political reasons, why don't you bring someone along to eat their that ACTUALLY REALLY LIKES THEIR FOOD (me). ;\

Actually he donates the profits from his restaurant chain towards right-wing organizations that actively work to subvert gay marriage legislation. It's not just about their CEO's personal views. They've donated millions of dollars already and will probably keep on doing it. That's why people organized a day of support for them: to offset the lost revenue from the boycott, so that they can continue to spend money on fostering discrimination.

I'm kind of hoping you didn't know about that fact because otherwise it's pretty awful that you've just called the LGBT activists and their allies "very very dumb" for standing up to this.

The whole Chic-Fil-A support day, tiny as it may be in the grand scheme of things, is imo one of the most disgusting things I've seen in quite some time. People munching on chicken sandwiches so that gay people can continue to be mistreated. It's truly the American spirit condensed into its purest form.
