I remember only posting in the polls and welcomes/farewells forums because it was a really easy way to get your post count up. Gotta get those pips!

12 & 24

I was ashamed of my age when I joined because of the "you are 13" joke so I said I was 14 for 3 years.

Wait, Doktor Martini believes in Homeopathy? D:
No.

Also two days ago I had 550g of carbs from fruit and veggies alone.  Today I had 1500 calories before noon from fruit alone <3

Also that link yeah I was dumb back then.  That's not even my major.
Also also don't remember when I joined but I'm 25 now.

I was pretty sure I was 13 when I joined. 20 now. it honestly felt like I found the ultimate website and it alls tarted from googling 'how to make a game' or something and ending up discovering rpg maker. that feeling when you're new to the internet and you're just starting to be technologically literate and that you're about to learn something new and meet people across the globe. that feel. I miss.

2001 I think.

Very close. GW's first incarnation was late 2000 with GW1. Bartek relanched it in March (I think) 2001 though, which was where it really kind of started. I think it was just Bart, Nate and CyTWO who were involved at that time though.

It started as a splitter site from RPGMaker.net (not related at ALL to the current RPGMaker.net, which was founded when Bartek gave up the domain name [which ][/which]). He founded it due to not getting on with the administration of the original RPGMaker.net - they had a vendetta against Nate for some reason, and Bartek decided to PROTECT HIS FRIEND!!!

We made the BETTER FORUMS in November 2001, which is why there are like tons of registered users on exactly the same date in Nov 2001 XD!

Oh - and 15 when I first joined GW (but 13 when I first joined the NeXus - if anyone remembers that place - the old RPGmaker 95 community). From the NeXus I went to RPGMaker.net, following the development of RPGStudio (Airzone), RPGEngine (Rast), and InfinityRPG (Linguar - at least I think it was called InfinityRPG).

13 then, 27 now. In that entire time I managed to produce ONE game, which took five people to create, and was largely the least skilled person involved in creating said game. Santa Sled Racin' Mark II!!

I meant 22 in my last post idk if it was a typo or if the last ~2 years of my life were insignificant

Do not worry Vell, I lie about my age all the time. To the majority of gay dudes I meet in clubs, I am 21 hahaha.

He founded it due to not getting on with the administration of the original RPGMaker.net - they had a vendetta against Nate for some reason, and Bartek decided to PROTECT HIS FRIEND!!!

Well, Arguably better than me. I tried going it alone, mostly used GW as a place to just chat about random shit. I made like 4-5 half done games using GameMaker and they were all pretty awful.

The only not horrible but still unfinished game I made was a bit later and I lost the source code for it at some point. (I seem to have that habit... I seriously need to invest in a backup drive when I have the money.) I have the EXE on my Google Docs. Its a 2D omni-directional shooter.

Haha after the official start of the GOOD forums ya. We had some really shitty ones before that, and like a LOT fewer people. Besides Belross, I don't ever remember you NOT being around!

I think I was 14 when I joined, I'm 23 now. My friend Garrett told me about RM2K in Geometry class and I tried to find it when I got home. I think that was back when you could actually get the program from Don Miguel's website or something like that?? iirc GW never hosted the program itself.

The first thing I ever did on GW was write an article about literary devices in games. I haven't ever been able to find it on the wayback machine. Looking back, with all of the user submitted content, GW was on the cutting-edge of the web 2.0 revolution lol.

EDIT: I found it! http://web.archive.org/web/20040815181155/http://www.gamingw.net/articles/564 I was prepared to be embarrassed, but there's nothing truly mortifying here except for my sorry attempts at humor

Why aren't you using some kind of version control? You can use bitbucket or even github with private repos to keep all your stuff. Don't be an amateur!!
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

God I hope he is somehow aware of all the references made to him in the Barkley OST.

Well, back then I WAS an amateur using game maker. The reason I lost my XNA code recently is that I was just not careful enough I suppose. Doesn't matter though I was able to retrieve it from my old drive so shit is secure. I'll have to look into these.
