also IPB is just easier to read in general, it's just got a lot of small features that make it a lot nicer to check (things like notifications when people quote you and a PM system that lets you have more than two people in the PM conversation and almost acts like a private pseudothread)

Passworded forums are pretty useful because they allow a group of members to work on a project together in a forum that's inaccessible to other people.
Right now I have to make a new member group for everybody who wants a special forum, and what if some members are part of multiple projects?

oh ok. I'm pretty sure I've seen a thing for SMF where you can have different roles within member groups so project lead guys could maintain their own list of people who have access but it must have been custom made for that forum

does anybody remember gw arena?  it was this planned mainsite RPG SYSTEM in which you gained experience points for every post you made and then you battled other members, I guess, and you could also buy equipment and probably customize your dude and stuff.  my memory of the details is a bit foggy but of course it never actually came to fruition.  anyway let's make it happen, f your plans dada we makin gw arena

The pips should be a fast food meal sequence. Pip 1 is a salt shaker, Pip 2 is a box of fries, Pip 3 is a soda, Pip 4 is a burger, Pip 5 is a ice cream cone and Pip 6 is a middle finger. Each pip is for 1000 posts.

that seems a nice addition but I was always intimidated joining new forums with this rpg built in since it's harder to get 'in to' the community. Of course you could ignore it all together but still i'm not sure if we'll get new members like that.
It would be great if it's weekly though, like the characters reeset every week and the posts you do on that week will then be used for level up and stats etc.. and the champion iat the end fo the week would receive a point or something.

haha wait was this really being considered at some point?  someone said RPG SYSTEM every time someone asked about improving the site but it was always a joke when i saw it.  was this a real thing at one point?

You should take every single pip suggestion in this topic, and make it so that users can choose what pips they want to use.

Or make unlocking exclusive promotional pips one of the perks for winning big in the weekly sw arena event.
