Actually I really doubt he said it for that reason. I doubt there was any meaning behind it other than he has grown. It wasn't in manga either.

Episode 3 sub is out by SD. Their ep1 & 2 sub was good so this one should be good too.

aaaaaaand my opinions after seeing it:

It was mostly good but there were some parts I didn't like. Like expected, they added some new scenes and I wasn't completely happy with all of them. First of all, Naruto's Kage Bunshins getting owned so easily was stupid because they should be tougher to deal with in part 2. And they just had to add fucking Rasengan. And there were a bit too many flashbacks but at least they fit and made sense so I didn't really mind too much.

Animation was mostly nice but I definitely noticed some parts which weren't that good. Sometimes there weren't enough frames and sometimes the still images bothered me a bit. The art style was very good and the animation was mostly fluid and well done though. Music was great and next week's episode will surely be the best so far, although I'm pretty sure the fight will take two episodes.

Overall it was a great episode though.  Or maybe not THAT great (I liked the double episode more) but still good stuff. Loved all the Akatsuki parts and what was in manga.

also some translations were kinda weird (not any worse than the nostalgic shit though) but it was still good considering how fast it was done.

And oh yes, another thing which bugged me is how fast it changed from daytime to night. I think this episode had a lot more potential. Sasuke genjutsu was dumb too and shouldn't had been there. It's obvious that Studio Pierrot is slowing down the pace so that anime won't catch up with manga resulting in another fillerfest but this is a bit too slow. It had as much stuff as a single chapter when normally it's two or even three chapters. It's impossible for them to keep this up so the pace better pick up soon.

It was good, but you can't help but sigh when he does the KAGE BUNSHIN CHARGE which gets owned (like always), and after 2.5 years of training why can Naruto STILL not use Rasengan properly (ie with one hand), and surely he could have further refined it (by throwing the chakra ball or something).

Sakura seems to have become useful at last though, as before all she did was whisper "sasuke-kun" and tremble.

The Akatsuki bits were very good though, can't wait to see more of Deidara's skills, and how Gaara's developed as well. I'm also very curious as to what Sasori can do, he seems somewhat strong based but I wonder how much.

Yeah, like I said, that kage bunshin part was not in manga and I hope they won't do it again. And as for Rasengan, I agree that it'd be better if he didn't use a kage bunshin for it but I suppose it's just his style though, I doubt it has anything to do with his chakra control at this point.

They better stop with the flashbacks soon. I don't care if it's supposed to serve a purpose. It isn't like the series was off the air for 2 years ( though fans might beg to differ ho ho ho ). All the flashbacks/ reintroduction bullshit feels the same as the cheap fillers.

Yeah this is exactly what I was thinking. I was very disappointed after this week's ep because of the flashback bullshit.

This episode disappointed me. It was pretty good but it could have been so much better because this part is really awesome in manga. The episode covered even less than the last one. The animation could have been better and some parts of the Deidara vs Gaara fight pissed me off.

In manga, Deidara was trying to hit Gaara with his homing explosives and Gaara used sand to stop them. That's why Deidara switched to faster explosives. But in anime, it looks like they just hit the sand without Gaara even trying anything and without Deidara trying to hit Gaara with them. That part seemed incredibly dumb. I loved the part where Gaara raised the huge amount of sand though. And the ending rocked as well.

This time I didn't really mind the added scenes in the bell test because they were pretty nice. Good thing it's over now though. The next episode (which will air in 2 weeks btw) should focus on Gaara's battle and hopefully end it because the fight is pretty short and they shouldn't drag it on too much.

Overall, I'd say this episode was about as good as episode 3. Good but could have been better, they don't use enough manga material in these episodes.
