Sonic confirmed and the Japanese release date set to January 24th:

Does the whole January 24th Japanese release date mean a delay for the U.S.? They didn't have a Japanese release date before the conference so I don't know what to make of this.

I'd say it would be pretty brutal for Nintendo to delay it past Christmas in the US, that would really hurt potential sales for this game and Wiis in general. They could get away with that in Japan though. So I don't think it will be delayed here unless there was a very good reason - in which case, it will be for the best.

Haha, I know exactly what you mean. If this whole release date thing wasn't scaring the piss out of me, I'd be jumping up and down like a little girl about Sonic.

I agree with your logic Dapper (and, God, do I hope it's true), but somehow I think they only showed Sonic so fans wouldn't be too ticked off about the delay.
