Ah, my bad. I misread the question.

You'll probably only be able to charge it on the ground, and not in the air, which would mean that it would work just like the Melee one did. If they made it so you could charge it in the air, they'd run the risk of screwing over people who hold Up+B rather than just tapping and releasing it.

I would really be excited if young link was a more realistic version of Wind Waker Link and would be based off that version of Link. Then we could see some variety between adult Link and young Link.

However, young Link could probably still work as an OoT version pretty well.

Haha, R.O.B. is back!

It looks like they are fleshing out more of a story or reasoning behind the games now.  So maybe we will see some Super Smash "canon" after all.

You say R.O.B.... I say Petey!
Petey is so awesome, although I doubt he'll be a Playable Character (same goes for R.O.B.), I can't wait to see what exact purpose he has in the game.

Pretty cool. Pretty big blow for people who use the girl characters: They are apparently still idiots!

Anyone else notice he was flying at meta knight's ship?

If you can be meta knight, why not Petey?

I think the general consensus was that Meta-Knight's ship (The Halberd?) has been stolen by the Ancient Minister.
I hope you can play as Petey though, he's been playable in a lot of recent games.

There are a bunch of rumors that have been going around. One is that all of the "bad guys" that are in Brawl (Bowser, Metaknight, Ganondorf) are all going against the good guys, which could explain why Meta Knight's ship is attacking the "good guys." The other is what you mentioned, that his ship was stolen. I personally don't think it's the second one though. I remember seeing a video of Meta Knight on the Halberd just before he jumps off to attack some of the other characters.

Anyone else notice he was flying at meta knight's ship?

Because Bowser is already said to be the largest and heaviest character. Petey is a good ten feet taller than him and having him in would be like being able to play as Giga Bowser non-stop (rather than just the final smash, which lasts a few seconds). He'll be a boss and you'll be able to gameshark him, but nothing more.

Here is a list of characters I can think of in Melee that were in the game, but unplayable:

Master Hand
Crazy Hand
Giga Bowser
Team Polygon, or whatever they were called in Melee

With that short list in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if R.O.B., Petey, and even Emissaries are playable in Brawl.

How does that list indicate that Petey, R.O.B., and the Primids (I'm assuming that's what you meant by 'Emissaries') are going to be playable? If anything, it's indicative of them not being playable characters.

Characters that there are multiples of (Polygon team and their replacement in Brawl, Primids) are never playable, without a gameshark or AR. That also rules out R.O.B.s.

A character like Petey is far too large and powerful to be playable. His tongue is bigger than Peach and Zelda. He can hold two characters with ease, he shoots out giant balls of sludge, and he can petrify his opponents. I have a good feeling he's going to be a boss.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that's what Dapper meant - you could use an AR to play as them.

My point is that I've noticed Smash games have a tendency to get a lot of mileage out of the character models and animations that are created - think of all the clone characters and the way so many things were cleverly reused in Event matches (resizes, dark link, etc).

This observation isn't an "indication" of anything, but it helps a little.  You've given some points about why they may not be playable.  I think it's possible that they will be playable, but I am far from making a bet on it.

Oh, and don't forget you can control Giga Bowser in Brawl.  He's pretty big.

Yeah, he's big, but that's a final smash. You get to control him for a few seconds and then it's back to regular tiny Bowser.

Yeah, true.  I see you did take him into account already.

I'm about 100% sure Petey won't be playable, but only because I'm expecting there to be quite alot of bosses in Emissary mode, some of which wouldn't work as playable characters (Wispy Woods, Andross, Kraid). Although it would be cool to play the ones that do work I'm not expecting them to do that.

It's two totally different things; making boss AI and a model for certain moves and making a fully playable character with models for EVERYTHING, including interaction with all the other characters and every move, and costumes.
